very interesting, added a Spirit Hunter NPC to my game. Pc's were thrown a bit ( i of course loved every second of it), but will appreciate his presence very soon...
we did some wolf vs troll vs spider playtesting this weekend. Everyone burned up a 5 and 4 Lp version of their favorite non-human and then we went at it. It was better than Godzilla and Monster Island. Soo much fun. Each of the races was unique, had a different play-feel and had their own weaknesses and strengths. I am very satisfied with the way wolves turned out, but it is hard to say which one I like best!
more soon.

Who won?
I gots ta say, I'm starting to get an itchin' to run me some BW. Too bad it's so hard to find players in this town. :( I also need a lot more practice in the system before I'd feel comfortable running. Maybe I could whip up some one shots, although those aren't nearly as satisfying.
Who won?
The first round, the freaking Handmaiden spider won. Did I mention she was as big as a troll and covered in chitnous plates and spines? Ugh. She poisoned the wolf and the troll. However, through that victory we saw some flaws in the spider venom and made some adjustments. Yay playtesting!
The second round was a draw between the spider and troll. The wolf once again was poisoned and was in pretty bad shape. The troll was wounded (from the freaking wolf), but managed to get back on his feet. The spider, scared of being smashed again, retreated up the tree and hid. So the troll grabbed his new pet wolf and stumped off.
Credit has to go to the spider's player. After an exchange or two of combat he really got into it and started to script some amazing stuff. Very innovative and unpredictable. It was more his playing style and a little luck than his spider body that won the day for him.

Well, I hope this weekend did a little to bring pride to the packs before me... accompanied by a man short-swordsman (I was playing a Great Wolf Spirithunter) we were able to drive off the spider. I think spiders have a problem with Wolves... cause the damn thing gunned for me (until the little man got behind and inside). Although I have no doubt that Drozdal was taking it easy on us....
Two words that made it all possible.... Primal Bark!

Even though I was the small swordsman, the Wolf seemed pretty cool, even when I was subject to the Primal Bark. The spider was pretty scary, though, and I was glad for the Wolf to distract it.
It's funny, it seems all of our demos turn into tenacious, bloody brawls. You two did just fine though. Your instincts were good and your tactics fairly sound. A few unlucky rolls always hurts, but you both managed to still pull out a win.
As you saw, if you cannot kill your opponent quickly, it is best to try to drive them off. Being wounded sucks and is just plain bad for business.
thanks for the good time!

Not at all ;) Little man was behind me and i did not asses so i didin't knew where he was until i he got inside and start stab my butt with sword - when i drove back your little wolf i immidietly took care of man - but damn he was lucky ;p

Not too easy, but remember eruditus it was demo game - just to get you guys glimpse of mechanics and how combat works - and damn Abzu didin't let me use my frickin' Intimidation of B6!!! (thay would change a couple of things :) - but as i said before that was a demo - and we skiped many of advenced combat rules. And even than we had a great time :P
