Hey guys, im new to The Burning Wheel, and was introduced to the game and all of its aspects at this year's small Non Con by Abzu. I am hooked ;) To be specific Abzu, im the dopey red haired kid who is aspiring to be a Future Game Developer. I had been new to the tabletop role playing until quite recently, and even before then had been interested in game design as a whole, but today's discussion at the Game Dev panel really helped me bridge the similarities in mechanics between tabletop and video gaming. Id like to humbly thank you again, in showing me and my small group of elves and dwarves, the light durring the demonstration of The Burning Wheel.
Hey!
(I'm terrible with names, so you'll have to forgive me. But I remember you well!)
Game Design is game design, the final form doesn't matter. For RPG design and some really innovative thinking check out:
http://www.indie-rpgs.com and its spin-off site: http://www.septemberquestion.org/lumpley/opine.html
lots of cool ideas being thrown around.
Anyway, like I said, if want to design games, do it. Design them and play them. All types of them. Don't think in narrow definitions, or your games will be narrowly executed.
good luck!
