View Full Version : Converting from BW Classic to Revised
So we've got our handy-dandy PC's, what should we do to Revision-ise 'em?
Thoughts?
excellent question!
If you have an unplayed character, remake him. There are so many more options in the new CB that you'll want to anyway.
If you have a played character, first you'll need to add a Circles and a Resources ability.
Circles
Starting Circles exponent is half Will exponent rounded down. Shade is Will shade. Do not advance this.
Affiliation: GM and player should negotiate the character's affiliations. Be honest, be fair. Only give dice for organizations with which the character has direct ties. Don't give Aff dice for organizations the character is feuding with or organizations he as a casual relationship with.
Reputation: Reputations are earned via a trait vote type system. So players and GM should vote for reps and assign dice as per the guidelines described in the CB.
Resources
I tend to be generous with converted characters. So I'd just look at the Lifestyle Maintenance table and pick one obstacle level that fits. Then add one or two dice on top of that. That's the starting Res exponent. Shade is Black.
Other stuff:
Observation
Observation is NO LONGER a training. It is a standard skill now. Converted characters get a one time only gift: The Observation skill for converted characters starts at their Perception exponent and shade.
Speed Multiplier
You don't need anything but your Sprint multiplier now.
Ranged Weapons
Better read the Range and Cover section. They're different.
Sorcery
Convert all spell syllables to actions. Also note that spell obstacles are not reduced by casting PnC, dice are added on instead. It's more dice, but simpler all around. Oh, and increasing Area of Effect increases the obstacle of the spell before it's cast.
that's it off the top of my head.
