I spent a couple of hours writing an Adventure thread for my Burning DOOM. It has a bunch of views, but I can no longer find it. Where'd it go?

The boards were attacked over the weekend. Colin pulled up a backup, but I think a day of posts may have been lost.

Nooooo! I don't think I have it in me to rewrite that. Oh well. ::kicks over sand castle::

If anybody was subscribed to the thread they might have had email notification of your last update. I'd check with anyone that had made any posts as the subscribe with email notification may be set to automatic on reply with one of those users.

Edit: Sorry, didn't see that there were no replies.

I read it. You seemd to have done a good job in hacking out bits of the rules to get it to play like the feel of the game. You wanted to tweak a few of the availabilities to further enhance the game play.

Right? The tree did not fall unheard in the forest.

He had one in the Adventure Burner board, too. I'm sad that it got lost, that was some awesome stuff, Pete!

No, it was a companion to that thread.

If it was written after about 10 AM Friday the 24th it was lost as part of the "great berserk moderator purge" of 2011. Sadly, everything written after that point was lost when I rolled the database back.

Are there no records at all to sift through? A saved version before the roll back that I could manually go through?

Alas, the only thing saved when vbulletin deletes a thread (or at least when a super moderator fully purges a thread as is what happened here) is a record gets saved in the moderation log about the thread deletion. Soft-deleting stuff might be different, but what happened here was wholesale data removal (otherwise I would have just restored everything and called it good).

So yeah, lame sauce.

Even the VBBS logs normally get reset when a board gets rolled back. THe server ones don't, but... they don't even include that much content.

I believe the google cache of it is here (http://webcache.googleusercontent.com/search?q=cache:4mE4zwdtHnYJ:www.burningwheel.org/forum/showthread.php%3F10956-Burning-DOOM-The-Adventure+kublai+burning+doom+site:www.burningwhee l.org+2011&cd=9&hl=en&ct=clnk&gl=us&source=www.google.com). Should be able to cut and paste that... probably a pain in the ass formating-wise, but certainly not as bad as trying to recreate it. Assuming I guessed right about this being what you were looking for.

Roll for positioning, Clyde, because I'm about to Get Inside and hug you!

I actually tried to figure out how to use Google cache yesterday, but was too ignorant to get it working. I'm so glad you did!

Kublai, I just reposted everything out of the Google cache here: http://www.burningwheel.org/forum/showthread.php?10972-Burning-DOOM-The-Adventure&p=110163

I'll see how easy it is to change ownership of a post so I can give it to you.
