We played for awhile last night and had a chance to test out the duel of wits. The group encountered a town under the influence of a corrupted priest, who was tricking the people into following him. It was the hometown of one of our characters, a monster hunter named Sain Luthwin. He had saved some of the villagers during an orc attack when he was younger, though most of the villagers died, including his parents. Anyway, after they spent a couple of days in the town they reallized the priest wasnt so chaste and holy, so they sought to discover his plans. That night they were attacked by assassins and chased them off into the woods. Through some careful tracking work by their "ranger" type character, they managed not to fall too far behind, but keep enough distance to not be noticed. They came out of the woods and saw the assassins flee into the temple. As they approached it, the priest came out and made a scene, awakening villagers and causing them to come outside. Seeing their priest arguing vehemently with the town hero caused quite a commotion, and Sain decided it was time to try a duel of wits. He ended up winning and defaming the priest. The assassins got away through an underground passage, but enough info was found inside to incriminate the priest. Everyone loved the system and it added some more excitement to an otherwise static roleplaying argument! Thanks for all the work you put in! We're working in the other rules a little at a time, tonight I want to work in some of the "range and cover" rules, because I'm really excited about them! I also approve of the new aggressive and defensive stance. We're still waiting on a "range and cover" situation, which will probably be done during our next session.
