Does there have to be only 1 option? Could you have a proper hotel and a cheap crash spot?

Oh crap. Yeah, I'd have voted for cheap OR nice room.

The poll lets you vote for more than one option.

You are afraid your misses would get deathly jealous if you shared a bed with me for the weekend, Paul?
you can choose more than one option.

You are afraid your misses would get deathly jealous if you shared a bed with me for the weekend, Paul? After being crammed in the back of a taxi, sharing a bed would seem luxurious :)

I don't mean more than 1 option on the poll- I mean a couple of actual options of where to stay.

I'm not talking for Luke, but it can be a major job just to get one hotel to set aside a block.

In Manhattan you often need a deposit to do so, as well.
There's nothing to stop anyone from getting their own hotel - there are plenty to choose from.

You know where I live, so...
But I do have a very nice bed/couch I can offer if a friend doesn't already claim it.
Okay, the gaming space is confirmed.
11 11 11
will be held at 440 Studios at 440 Lafayette Street in sunny Manhattan.
Friday: Party, Keynote. Location TBA.
Saturday: 9-11 games!
Sunday: 9-6 games!
Hotels:
Larchmont (https://www.myfidelio.net/webui/AvailabilitySearch.aspx?chain=IQ&property=USLT): Nicest hotel only two blocks from venue. Best for singles and people sharing beds.
Seafarers (http://www.sihnyc.org/newyork-guesthouse.php): Simple, no frills hotel 8 blocks from venue. Singles only!
Ye Olde Carlton Arms (http://www.carltonarms.com/)(click on reservations): Basically like staying in a hotel in a Call of Cthulhu adventure -- in a good way. Colorful, eccentric, extremely cheap, great for people who want to share room. One block from amazing food options, 17 blocks from venue.
The Gershwin (http://www.gershwinhotel.com/): Very hip, very cool, a bit more expensive than the other options (but not that expensive). For those who want to travel in style. Good food options. 19 blocks from venue.
I'm trying to arrange a room-sharing deal, but if you can work it out yourselves, go ahead and book a room.
We'll open up registration for the actual event very soon.

Pro tip: Avoid the St. Marks Hotel. Trust me.

For the yuppies amongst you (ie: those who don't mind paying for comfort) - the Gershwin hotel is great. I used to book with them frequently and the staff is easy to work with.
They used to have bunk-style rooms as well, but I'm not sure if they replaced them all with swanky suites. I imagine the rates are around $200 per night (for a room that accommodate 2-4 people depending on shares)
The coffee shop is great too.

They are still listed on the website.

How exciting! Thanks for setting this up, Luke...and Vincent, I presume.
And the venue is close to one of my traditional "must stop" places to eat in NYC --- Katz's Deli. Where Harry met Sally!
FYI, if I did the mapping right, the Larchment is more than "two blocks" from the venue. But still a convenient distance. I've booked my room for Thu through Mon. I might have Dee come out to join me and stay a few days longer and enjoy NYC.
Can't wait to see y'all.

I can happily second Mayuran's recommendation on the Gershwin, where I liked to stay travelling on business, before I moved here, for those that have the spare moolah.

Officially booked! $297 round trip, not so bad.
Alert the media, I'm sure Regis will want to interview me when I arrive.

Think I'll need a room share after all.
Although I'll be visiting my step sister in Long Island City she won't be able to put me up for more than a night or so.
So it'd probably be better to hang at a hotel as there'd be more con spirit and all that anyway.

My flight arrives mid-morning on the Thursday. Have your people interface with my people, we’ll do a joint presser when you get in. Any ideas for a location? EDIT: I just noted the title for this thread. I leave this post here only to publicly shame myself for such a brutal hijack. :(
