I have mentioned several fiction world that would really be well suited for Burning Wheel. Unfortunately, one of my favorites has already been liscenced by Guardians of Order, George R.R. Martin's Song of Ice & Fire series (although this shouldn't be too difficult to do a version for BW since a Westeros article appeared in Dragon a few months ago).
Anyway, there is a point to this, really...
My other fav gritty fantasy world is Mark Smylie's Artesia series.
You can check Artesia out at http://www.daradja.com/
And he is in the process of trying to work with a Fuzion version of his world. Although not on a particular design team I am involved in the discussion about an Artesia game. :) I will have to discuss it with Luke a little more.
I highly suggest going out and searching for these books (some are in trade paperbacks right now). Good stuff!
A bit of thread necromancy, here.
Eruditus, I recently picked up the Artesia RPG and the three trade paperbacks. I have to say that this is one of the coolest settings to have every existed. I LOVE how religion and magic is organically and seamlessly integrated into a highly detailed gritty world.
It's Glorantha meets Conan meets Machiavelli's The Prince.
I'm not too crazy about the system, though.
I did a search for Artesia on this site, and found several posts by you alluding to some work that had been done for Artesian lifepaths. What gives? Care to elaborate? Collaborate?

I saw a Artesia book came out as well... though I don't know much about the setting.
Khelek,
Artesia is definitely worth taking a look at. The comics (art and story) are absolutely superb.
Technologically the world is High Middle Ages, or perhaps early Rennaissance, but culturally it feels more like the bronze age, with many viable religions and cults rather than a single dominant religion like Roman Catholicism.
Religion, folk magic, and interaction with the spirit world are very common. There are few fantastical creatures, and the setting/comic is very much concerned with the doings of man.
I think the setting would be a great fit for BW, if sorcery and faith were massaged to emulate the source material a bit better.

The Artesia Character Burner is planning on going to abzu and Mark Smylie for review by the end of the April.
Work got in the way for a short time but I have been spending more and more time on it. At this point, I'm chugging along nicely.
PLEASE hold me to this deadline and bug me often (eruditus.don at gmail dot com) !! :) I am really excited about this project. I love the setting and I love what Mark has done with Fuzion but my heart is with BW :)
My first convention scenario for Artesia is being worked on in tandem with the conversion project which will be the first thing converted outright - I will be dual stating all my Artesia work :D
Excellent news!
My main beef with the Artesia system was the thought of having to keep up with the 22 Arcana for rewarding experience. I don't think I'm capable of being organized enough to keep that going smoothly!
I'm interested to see how you handle the various lineages in BW.
Tim
Ok man, It's May 1st. Should I be checking the wiki for Artesian goodness?

Is there any more news on this? C'mon guys, give us something. Will the Artesian magic system be integrated into BW somehow?

I just got on the Artesia bandwagon myself and I must say I'm hugely impressed. So I'm definitely looking forward to a BW adaptation, when and if.
