the garrote skill is mentioned in the section on orcs as a general skill, but is nowhere to be found throughout the remainder of the book. any clarification on its use would be helpful.

thanks.

garˇrote or garˇrotte
1.
1. A method of execution formerly practiced in Spain, in which a tightened iron collar is used to strangle or break the neck of a condemned person.
2. The iron collar used for such an execution.
2.
1. Strangulation, especially in order to rob.
2. A cord or wire used for strangling.

If that helps..seems like something an orc would do, I would vote for the latter one.

As I remember, in classic it worked something like a lock using the Garrote skill. There was some way to hurt people before they were all locked up, too.

Garrote's skill description is in the Roden section of the Monster Burner, I believe.

Since Garrote skill wasn't featured in Revised BW, here is what Monster Burner have to say about it:

Garrote
Root: Agility
A garrote is a two foot length of cord strung between two small wooden handles. It is used to throttle victims to death. To use this skill the character must be on the Inside. Once there, a 2D (or greater) Lock must be established around the neck with the garrote. If such a Lock is achieved, the victim loses 1D Forte every two exchanges thereafter. If Forte reaches zero ,the victim falls unconscious.
Suggested FoRKS: Brawling, Throttling Training
Skill Type: Martial
Tools: Yes
So in revised combat rules you have to be close enough (arms reach) to apply the lock with the garrote.

sorry. i'm a bad publisher. Garrote is in the Monster Burner. I'm a bad man for not reprinting it, I know. (But I don't think it would fit.)
