If you've not seen it yet... Here (http://www.burningwheel.org/wp-content/uploads/2011/10/111111_schedule_r1.pdf)
Oh boy it looks exciting just from seeing all the familiar names. I can put a face to a third of them!
What's everyone planning on running?
Mine's a Burning Wheel murder mystery. I've asked to switch slots as last year I crashed in the middle of Brodie's freemarket in that same slot. I had the jet lag... It's not polite to do that...
Too bad Brodie and Shelby aren't on it.. It was good to hang out with them last year. And fellow brit John isn't there either.

Darn, I’m scheduled during the only Mouse Run slot. :( With only 4 other slots I imagine a number of people are going to have to skip something they would otherwise like to play in. *shrug*
It looks like Luke has done well spreading out different game systems among the slots, I am interested in giving this Apocalypse World a go. I assume this is just a preliminary list, since it doesn’t even have the session names muchless descriptions?

So forget all that Western nonsense for 11/11/11. I'm doing a game in the THAC0-verse.
One option is for the players to play the "great heroes" which are sort of the antecedents of the Burning THAC0 crew. The great city of Panax has been seized by the Cult of Thanatos. Only they can save the day, but who will save them?
The other option would be to play out one of many side situations arising from the actions of the crew. These range from overthrowing petty dictators to fighting off a roden incursion to an all out war with a vampire army.

Are there no scheduled games for Friday night or is there a page missing?

No game slots Friday. I believe Friday will have a sort of kick-off party and some talking from Luke & Vincent.
Luke: the system you used last year for getting into games seemed to work pretty well. Are you going with that again?

Definitely getting in on one of the FreeMarket sessions. I love that game but I'm terrible at GM-ing it. Need to watch a master run this.

+1 for last year’s system, it felt to me like it gave the best possible outcome for a tight situation.
P.S. I had the impression Jared was going to try fit in something Friday night on top of whatever Luke & Vincent were doing.

Ever listen to the GeekNights podcast? Scott Rubin is running a session and I bet he's really good at it. (Although I don't think they've really said much about Freemarket on their show.)
Yes, we're definitely using the Priority System we developed last year. Worked like a charm! Hopefully it'll work with this slightly bigger event.
Friday night is a party. How do you all feel about BW-themed burlesque? I have two dancers who want to shake their stuff for you.
Plus talking from me and Vincent.
Plus Jared's new game!
Two BW games:
Spending the Hoard
And you thought killing the dragon was the hard part. Now try selling off its parts, pawning its artifacts and buying a group of tomb-robbers and monster-slayers a place in the world.
Your owner is dead.
You are Wheel-forged, state of the art golem-constructs in a world that considers you property. Your owner is dead and if the city-state finds out the government will put you to brutal use.

EDIT: Also, now I'm imagining a burlesque show in which the audience has to make difficult choices.

Sample of the burlesque in question.

Is this intended as a question as to which one you should choose to go with?

Nope, I reckon I'll run them both if I can.

Right now, I only have you booked for one slot. In fact, right now our schedule is looking good. Nearly everyone has stepped up, so we can all run one and play a bunch!

Fantastic. I'll probably run the Dragon Hoard then...I think.

Sorry, Guy my man, but my wife's giving birth to our (second) son sometime around early November. (I'll be having my own kind of apocalypse!) "Enmity Clause" doesn't even begin to describe what it'd cost me if I went. :p Hopefully next year - I'm feeling crazy enough to try to run a Burning Empires game!

Looks like I have Saturday night, Game 3. I'm intending to run a Warhammer 40K/Deathwatch themed Mouse Guard game:
Mouse Guard 40K: Recover the Mail:
In the grim dark future of the 41st Millennium, there is only war. As a member of the elite Mouse Marines, brave the perils of the Warp in tiny (yet still somehow immense) starships, battle weasel cheesestealers, and uncover a dark conspiracy that threatens the very existence of your brother Mouse Marines, the Imperial Mouse Guard, and the Empress herself!

Oh, and I also have no faults to find with the opening festivities.
W/R/T the burlesque, there are women attending this con, too, right? Just sayin'.

I so can't wait! Anyone else driving up from Baltimore? Maybe I'll try one of these train things I keep hearing about...
Burlesque is an awesome idea! Now it's time to knuckle down and pick a theme for my MG game.

I'm coming from CT (taking the train each day, but I'm used to that). From Baltimore, it might be a good idea to take a train. It looks like Amtrak might be about an hour quicker than driving, and that's not taking Baltimore, Philly and NYC traffic into account, which are bound to add time. I'm not sure how much an Amtrak ticket is for that particular trip, but if you're doing price comparisons vs. driving, make sure to take into account that parking in NYC is expensive, and driving in the city is not for the feint of heart. I'd recommend the train if you can swing it. Once you get into the city (Amtrak should drop you at Penn Station, iirc), I'm assuming it should be easy to take the subway to a stop within a short walk of the event. If I'm reading Google maps right (and I've been known not to), it looks like you can take the 4, 5 or 6 train to the Astor Place stop and be less than a block from 440 Lafayette Street.

From Penn Station, you'd walk east to Herald Square and take the N or R train to 8th St, the 6 is a bit of a hike from Penn Station.
Parking is an absolute nightmare around where the con is, especially on weekends. I would suggest taking the train as well - Baltimore to NYC is quick and easy. The price varies by time of day traveling, but if you're flexible, could be as little as $100 round trip.

I just noticed that lunch and dinner are on tight half-hour slots. Are there places nearby that do good food fast?

There's a bunch of places really close.

When is the Friday night stuff kicking off, anyhow? I'm sure it was mentioned somewhere, but damned if I can find it.

Should I be worried about snow in NY screwing up my flight time?
slashdevnull

This weekend's snow will probably all be melted away in the next several days. I'd hold off any worrying for now, but I have no idea what the weather will be like in two weeks. It's usually not too bad.
luke, you might want to take this into consideration if you're thinking about a 12/12/12 event. ;)
At this point, I'm just making things up about events that are missing details. I'm rolling a six-sided die to determine the number of players for BW games and about 40 dice for Dogs games.

LOL
Find the happy place Luke, find the happy place.
P.S. I’ve double checked my scenario email to you to make sure all pertinent info fields have at least something in them. I’m sure everyone else is doing that as we speak. ;)
Hello my friends!
I am ready to go with the schedule but for six events. Unfortunately, email and twitter have failed me. Subtle hints have gone ignored. It's time to name names. Time is of the essence!
Meghan McGinley has not informed me how many players she can take in her AW game.
Sean Smeland has not informed me how many players he can take in his BW game.
Tony Hoyt has not informed me how many players he can take in his BW game.
Joshua Crowe has not informed me how many players he can take in his BW game.
Christian Wanamaker has not informed me how many players he can take in his BW game.
Daniel Craine needs to resubmit event info and player requirements for his MG game.
If you have already given me this info, I apologize for being an absent-minded and overwhelmed game designer, but please resubmit.
If you would like to see the schedule, bug your friends to get me their info! Final schedule is ready to go except for this info!
And if you're running a Dogs or AW game, please consider submitting an event description. Vincent submitted one so you should too.
-Luke
