No clue. All it said in the con booklet posted for system was Dungeoneers and Dragonslayers playtest.

I don't get to go to any cons, ever, because I live in Asia. It really kills me seeing everybody talk about this. Can't wait until 11/12/11.

*is jealous* :(

I'm in Alaska... I don't get to cons, either.

The title is intriguing...

Ain't no mangosteen in S. Korea. Very temperate climate here, and damned cold in the winter. I get to eat kimchi, and the best damned BBQ meat on the planet.

And yes, the name is verrrry intriguing. I do hope it's a Mouse Guard dungeon-crawler hack. If it is, I would pay money for that.

OR! Maybe Dragonslayer the movie??? O.O

I wonder, if it is published and the name is kept, if WotC will sue to protect their acronym. Wouldn't surprise me.....

They'd most likely lose for lack of defense on prior infringements of the text trademark; so long as the funky styled graphical logo version is avoided, at least.

Drakkar und Deomoner being the oldest... but it's not the only one.

That's good to hear. Bet they'd still try though....

So, 11/11/11's over now. Any reports on this game?

How did it go?

I'm anxious to know as well, but fairly certain that since it was a playtest, the players were probably sworn to utter and absolute secrecy.

When I read the blurb for the playtest version of this game for Burning Apocalypse, I thought, "This is what I want a dungeon crawl game to be." I am on the edge of my seat for this.

I played in this, and it was awesome. I don't know that Luke would want any of us to go into any detail, though. Suffice it to say that it felt like old school D&D, except it was incredibly fun. ;)

You're biased! You played a halfling and you got to riddle with a dragon!

So, is it a BW hack, a more divergent BW-relation (akin to MG or BE), or something new?

I don't exactly know yet. It could be the most difficult game we've designed!

Not to call shenanigans on that but you say this about every game you design.

Do I? Did say that about Mouse Guard and FreeMarket?

Doesn't make it not true.

You did say something close to that for Mouse Guard. You strongly implied it for FreeMarket. And in the interview posted on RPGGeek.com (http://boardgamegeek.com/blogpost/6882/luke-crane-mammal-extraordinaire), you state that you started on Mouse Guard as a personal self-challenge...

My friend Clinton R Nixon showed me the first issue of the comic in 2005 at ICON in Stonybrook, NY. In that issue one of the characters says, "It's not what you fight, but what you fight for." That is essentially what Burning Wheel is about. Clinton tried to work with the creator to design a game for him, but that fell through. I took a shot at it purely as a design experiment -- to see if I could strip Burning Wheel down to its core and keep it intact. We ended up with a rather different, unique game in its own right. I like it very much.Bolding mine...

I suspect you LIKE a hard challenge...

Oh, hah hah hah! Not for me, for YOU!

The design has been loads of fun, but the play testers have been wiping away grim tears and choking back sobs of "I thought this was supposed to be fun..."

I wouldn't know, as I'm in Alaska, can't afford to ship you up here, don't have a con in Anchorage anymore (so I can't con them into conning you to con=going up here with a playtest at the con...), and can't afford to get out of state to play at any of the cons down south...

(Actually, my experiences with playtesting for several RPG's have shown that it can be un and frustrating... )

I look forward to this title.

I've been looking at "old school" dungeon crawl games and found them all wanting. So I was thinking of having BURNING WHEEL assault BIG EYES SMALL MOUTH while MOUSEGAURD eggs it on. But I'd much rather have you do the work, and give you money.

Since you didn't ask, MOUSE GUARD (boxed set) style combat cards would be awesome in said theoretical game. I can't exaggerate how awesome these are, for actions and conditions. Items are icing on the cake. But those cards make a potentially difficult combat system conceptually easy for newbies, and are ideal for dungeon crawl action.
