Certainly this question is incredible specific, but I'm just curious how one would script during combat running to a tree and climbing it, for example, to avoid wolves.

This is how I did it. It took them two scripted actions and they had to withdraw during the volley(s) they were trying to climb.

Then I gave them the root stat of climbing (since they are not skilled climbers) which was Speed against an obstacle of two (double obstacle penalty). They all got the double obstacle and I said they successfully climbed the tree and avoided the wolves.

Do you think this was handled justly or how would you have revised it?

You probably should've made them sing this: http://www.tolkien-music.com/songs/rankin7.html

*laugh* I just had a flashback to The Hobbit cartoon.

That was sung during that scene right?

You handled it just fine. Physical Action cost 2 Actions in the script. The Withdraw was perfectly in line with their intent. Good job!
