So I am reading it right that you roll Will with Sorcery?
So if you have a Sorcery 3 and a Will 5 you roll 8 dice?
And thus in order to raise the Sorcery 3 you would need to cast spells with Obstacles of 7 and 9?
Is that right? Did I miss something?

If that's the only spell you're doing, yes, you roll 8 dice.
If you are sustaining spells, you have fewer Will dice to use.
Keeping that Eldritch Shield up? Rolling 7 dice.
Turn Aside the Blade as well ? 6 dice.
To answer the question behind the question: It's hard to raise your Sorcery unless you spend, like, ten years in a tower with Cliff's Notes. Seems reasonable to me.

yeah, for a while it was quite difficult for sorcerers to raise their skill. But then again, they were casting magic and destroying buildings with a thought - so boo-hoo.
But now there is Abstractions which makes getting tests much easier. There are loads of tests - big and small - during the spell creation process. Use low-powered facets and take your time and you can even have Ob 2 or 3 tests!
