So emukt and I are going to duel it out tomorrow and we both created 5 lifepath humans from the revised burner for it. Our rules for this little melee were;

- Stat cap of 6
- Skill cap of 5
- No Born Noble, Noble Court, or Professional soldier paths.
- Maximum 5 Lifepaths

I had two ideas in mind, either the upstanding citizen town guard type, or the down and dirty anything goes fighter. I chose the more colorful cut throat mercenary path.

My character followed the following path to get where he is today;
City Born; Criminal; Criminal; lead to Outcast; Bandit; Freebooter

Will: B4
Perception: B5
Power: B4
Forte: B4
Agility: B6
Speed: B4

Inconspicuous: B5; Knives: B4; Streetwise: B4; Climb: B2; Axe: B5; Intimidation: B5; Crossbow: B3; Army-wise: B3; War-wise: B3; Countryside-wise: B2; Fortress-wise: B2

Beliefs:
If an enemy is untouchable, then I will go after his family and friends who aren't.
Watch out for those who are stronger than you, and exploit those who aren't
A smack in time saves nine.

Instincts:
If coin is left unattended I will steal it.
Once combat starts, I will try to drop the guy with the biggest wallet first.
If I am threatened by an "equal", I will draw my axe.

Traits:
Cynical, Cold blooded, Merciless, Alert, Rainman, Ambidexterous, Resigned to Death

The first and third instincts aren't very instincts-y, I think. An instinct is more spur-of-the-moment reaction. The third instinct you could spin into a belief: "Even the untouchable have family to exploit". The first instinct could be a belief too, though not a very useful one.

Concept is cool Dan! Before I comment on anything else though, I have to point out that you're cheating!

The Criminal lifepath does not meet the requirements for Freebooter.

He'll need that high Agility to kiss his butt good-bye

This is a horrible human being. I feel dirty just knowing the guy who burned him.

I think he's great. I'll feel great choking him to death with his innards.

The Criminal lifepath does not meet the requirements for Freebooter.Yeah, I fixed it to Bandit then Freebooter. My bad. I'll fix the instincts.

That should fix him. His circles and Resources have been fixed, I've given him a proper lead into Freebooter and I've made the proper changes to his skills to reflect his new path. Also, his instincts are more instincty. :)

Cool Dan! Good job. Just a few criticisms.

1. Your first Belief is excellent. The second and third Beliefs are headed in the right direction, but don't quite make the cut yet. Make sure they allude to action, and you place yourself in the center of the action. When in doubt, look to my sig.

2. I get the idea behind your second Instinct, but I would reword it to make it better. Try this: When entering combat, Assess for the wealthiest-looking opponent.

3. You need to define the Scope of your reputations. Both of them are just 1D, so they're local reputations. So are you known as a Blood-Thirsty Killer Among the Black Sash Company? Or are you known as a Blood-Thirsty Killer in the town of Orloss? See what I'm getting at? This is important because it determines WHEN you are able to bring your Reputations to bear.

One more thing. Did you spend any of your Resource points on property? From what I see now, you've just spent 7 points each on your Reputations and 10 points on your Affiliation for a total of 24. That would get you a Circles B1, not B2. Unless you spent 6 Resource points on property?

Ahhhh, I get your point. I shall re-examine those then and see what I can come up with.

2. I get the idea behind your second Instinct, but I would reword it to make it better. Try this: When entering combat, Assess for the wealthiest-looking opponent.I'll work on this one too. The instinct you wrote is a good one, but I'm not so certain if he'd be so deliberate as to assess in the beginning of every combat. Most like he'd go for the leader, or the noble of the bunch. Then again, I guess he'd have to assess to figure out those too. I'll have to think on this one too.

3. You need to define the Scope of your reputations. Both of them are just 1D, so they're local reputations. So are you known as a Blood-Thirsty Killer Among the Black Sash Company? This is important because it determines WHEN you are able to bring your Reputations to bear.OK, these are easy. I didn't really flesh them out as much as I normally might, because he's really only a one melee guy. If I were to use him as a major NPC I'd probably do so. but for thoroughness' sake I'll put them in.

Thanks for the advice Thor! :)
