Since I didn't know the system perfectly when I started GMing, I decided to leave out certain things for the time being, such as abstractions. However, now that the players and I want to start using them, I notice that you have to pay to learn facets at the character creation process or learn them as spells.

Since the players, or myself, had no knowledge of this when we started playing, what should I do? I don't want to penalize the players for my withholding of information, but I don't want them to have free reign over abstractions.

I was thinking of allotting them a certain number of 'resources' to but facets with, say, half of thier strating resources? Does that sound good? Am I being to generous? To harsh?

Is a college of magic available in your setting? Have them go to it and buy some facets with their Resources.

No? Well, when Abstractions were first introduced to a campaign that had already begun, the GM was generous and allowed me to take the facets that made up the spells that I currently had, plus the basic three that come with the Sorcery skill.

I was thinking of that as another option.

Also, if they have the enchanting skill, should I let them have permanent?

er..... that's your call depending on how you are gonna run Enchanting.
