I just finished reading the Revised books (plus MB), and just wanted to say thanks for the example of play (BWR p240). Having neither played Burning Wheel before, nor known anyone who has, this section is a great illustration of how the game comes together. Armed with that template, I feel that I understand the spirit of the rules in play more than if I simply had to take a stab at them myself.

Thanks very much.

(And I know that I singled out this section, but the other examples throughout the books are also excellent. I'm thrilled with this game!)

I loved the combat examples from the earlier edition, and the new edition too. I do wish that there were more examples, though.

Greedy bastard. They quite literally would not fit.

The Arena has several, though many of them use a hybrid of Classic and Revised rules.

Oooh! If you have more in presentable form, could you release them to the website?

I agree, the example is very cool, and illustrative of how things are supposed to work.

Also, I group combat example would be great.

I concur, especially with the group combat example portion.

I concur, especially with the group combat example portion.

Most discussion on the topic of multiple opponents in battle here have been pretty vague, especially if you're accustomed to D&D's party style combat. Not that it can't be done I believe, but Burning Wheel gives a completely different feel to combat that probably leads to party style combats no longer being the norm. The combat here is very dangerous and chaotic and so I think open group vs. group battles will be very ugly. Here are a couple of threads that have touched on it though...
