View Full Version : Consolidated Artha
Is it possile to consolidate Artha into one big happy point?
Can we just say that Deeds is 3 points, Fate is 2 and Personna is 1 and just call 'em all Artha?
I'm chaffing a bit here and the three points haven't clicked yet for me just yet.
Thoughts?
Will this eff up the system entirely?

Artha as one big point used to be the way. The Classic Way. (at this point I guess the BGD would have a few choice words about the only way, but I will not dare to claim any BGD knowledge.)
IMO the three point types serve the game better.
Fate by playing the character
Persona by taking this one step further
And deeds for acts above and beyond the call of duty.
The lump of one point was mostly pointless. (pun not intended).
But hey, go classic if these seperate points don't gel for you. 1500 sold copies can't be all that wrong.
It can take me a while for things to gel in my head and I think Artha is just taking a bit. I was just brainstorming and I think I'd rather cut them up.
I like my players to know what currency their cookie is when they do something to make the table a better place to sit at.

No worries, my first post ever on the topic was an Actual Play where I btched about the spending of one "lump point".
Right now Artha has to be one of my favourite parts of BW.
while the three tier artha system is a little more to handle, the old system was changed because it was simply broken.
In the old system you could do the same behavior over and over again -- playing a Belief -- hoard your points and get the same benefits as a player who accomplished great deeds.
Even worse, in the old system, a player can rightly be well rewarded for his Beliefs and suddenly sneak in an Epiphany without having really earned it.
The multi-part artha system forces players to participate in the game on a variety of levels.
