Born To...

I know that this is probably a matter of opinion, but would you consider Born To as a lifepath?

I was wondering that myself. I guess its really a internal consistancy think but when going between GMs a standard would be handy.

Abzu? Kublai? When you guys say a 4-5 LP character does the Burner count as 1?

Oh, absolutely. Born to's are lifepaths in which you get traits, resources, skills, etc., so why wouldn't you consider it one? It's not really a matter of opinion, it's the rules. Born Peasant, Farmer, and Hunter would make a 3 LP character.

No, i could definately see where someone might not consider where you were born into as a LP. Just because I consider them to be an LP doesn't mean you have to berate someone who may look at it differently. It could be looked on as a foundational aspect of the choosing process. An extra step that is obvious but not written out. They are a bit different than the rest of the LPs in that they share specific qualities such as no stat raise and all give only general skills and all reside at the top of the LP chart.

If I were more of a curmudgeon I might even change my opinion just to spite you ;)

we had this debate years ago, when we were refining the LP system. Eventually we decided that you start counting from birth, ie from Born ....

In other words, all satire and curmudgeonness aside, kublai's correct.

Born Slave, Servitude, Servitude, Servitude, Servitude is a 5 LP character.
