I will soon be moving from New Orleans to Asheville, NC. I remember seeing a few posters here from NC, but the impression I got is that most lived more centrally in the state. Is there any one here from Asheville or Hendersonville or anywhere else close by?

I'm actually a little less than an hour an half from Asheville but to be honest, I've really got my hands full with my four (perhaps 5) players and trying to learn the system and teach them (two are already 30 minute commuters and another is an hour and half commuter so scheduling has been a bit of a whore). Perhaps the future holds potential there though. Interestingly enough, my questionable fifth player who's typically our strongest roleplayer, is working at a camp in Asheville this summer. He's predicting to be around on the weekends for gaming occassionally. Maybe if everything gets smoothed out in the future, you could hook up with him and join us for a game or two. Or...if you're looking to run a game, he might be interesting in playing up there in his free time.

Thanks for the info. I haven't been able to play a Burning Wheel session yet -- my players in New Orleans are diehard level-based d20 fanatics -- but I love the system so much I can't wait to get started. Please be in touch if something opens up in the future; I'll be trying to find a group in Asheville anyway, so maybe that friend you mentioned would be interested at some point. Anyway, I can be reached at cerebellum9 at hotmail . com. My name is Nathan.

Noted...and I'll get back to you if we can work something out here before too long. Also, Asheville seems like it would have a pretty decent core gaming population. It just feels like the right place for it. I'm trying to remember the name of the gaming store there downtown...seems like it was called The Sword and Grail, or the Sword and Chalice...something like that. Might be a good place to look up for making contacts when you get to town. I'll try to get the name of the place firmed up for you if I can.

The Sword and the Grail. They have a website by the same name with phone number, address, scheduled events, etc. Maybe this will help you get into something as well.

Great store, great town. I no longer live there but I visit regularly. There are a fair number of gamers in town. A guy named Alex runs S&G, seems to be a stand-up guy. There's at least one other gaming store in town, Pastimes, but the guy who runs that place has been a jerk to several of my friends...so I go to S&G when I'm in town.
And...there's three great breweries, great restaurants, the mountains...Highland Oatmeal Porter...mmm...damn, I'm homesick!
