The system book specifies the use of Linked tests to help Circles test but I was wondering if it was possible to use ForKs or Help. Also, if two characters have a similar lifepath that they're drawing the Circles test from, could one simply use his to help the other as well?
On a relatively unrelated note....how do you decide when a Linked Test is more appropriate than a FoRK use?

You answered your own question. Circles can help when a secondary character's LP, reputation, or affiliation would apply to the test.

When, in order to bring the skill to bear on the situation, the character would have to DO something prior to the test at hand. For example, making a Rituals test to perform a holy rite in order to get a Linked test for Faith.
And, when, as the GM, you deem that the situation needs a bit more difficulty written into it: Linked tests are harder than a simple FoRK because they require two tests.

And no, Circles tests can not use FoRKs. It's all about getting a Linked test and Help from comrades.
Wises are GREAT for these types of linked tests.
