Just wondering if anyone else has thought af a way to make "High Men" in BW. (i.e. Aragorn) I was thinking it would be pretty simple with a common trait package and a new age progression chart. Other than that they could basically use the same lifepaths as common men.

I was just curious if anyone else had given it some thought.

A friend of mine who reads these forums (not sure if he posts, maybe only a lurker) has done some work on this. He basically did what you suggested -- gave them some traits. IIRC they got Mark of Privilege for free. Not sure if that included the free affiliation die and obstacle penalty though. Hopefully, he can fill you in. Post goddammit Classe! ;)

I would basically take the Born Noble LP and add Vigor of Youth as an optional LP trait. You might also allow them to take a Blood of Numenor trait as an optional LP trait that gives a free +1D Reputation with Elves.

but they should be able to get by with the standard age chart. I mean, you don't really want PCs starting MORE powerful than Aragorn.

Yep. Vigor of Youth takes care of that.

Or maybe just Fey Blood, limited to Elvish traits?

I guess you'd want to make the max lifespan 250-300 years, too.

I'd keep Fey Blood as a trait you have to pay full price for. That's a trait for Elrond's brother (whose name I can never remember). I dunno if I would make it readily available to all Numenoreans. I would argue that even Aragorn didn't have it.

True, only about half of those traits would really apply.

The reason I was thinking of modifying the Age Progression chart is more due to the fact that High Men have considerably longer lifespans then common men. They would end up slightly more powerful than common men, but not nearly as powerful as elves are.

They would age very similarly as common men do, just spread out over more years, reaching their "prime" around 75 to 80. Their stats at birth and their later years would be the same as common men in those stages of their life, but in their prime they would be a couple points higher both physically and mentally.

I'll look into Vigor of Youth.

Continuing on the Aragorn example, he's 87 or so at the outset of The Lord of the Rings, but very seasoned. He did most of his "adventuring" from his mid 20s until his late 40s.

And he died when he was 208 years old.
