The lifepath Military Order requires Squire, Knight or a Professional Soldier LP.

Has you GM given special permission to take Military Order without that?

Sorcerer/Soldiers are tough to make in 4 LPs. I'd petition for an additional path to round him out (and to meet your requirements for Military Order).

Then again, this character would be pretty durn powerful. And he'd advance quickly.

Couldn't he drop the Bastard lifepath for a requisite military one and then have in his background that he was a very unfavored youngest son of a rather large noble family, kind of like the Freys in the George R.R. Martin books? That might give you some similar noble blood vibes. Just a suggestion though if you're trying to keep it kosher in 4 lifepaths.

Well, there are some neat skills in the Bastard lifepath that make it nice. But he could certainly skip the Bastard lifepath and buy the Bastard trait for 4 trait points. Although 4 free trait points can be difficult to come by with only 4 LPs.

That's for sure. I guess this character is a good candidate for petitioning for another life-path. I really like the concept, though. It'll be a little while before I dig into the magic in Burning Wheel.

I can't believe I missed that. Hmmm. The Order has become an integral part of the character, too. I guess I've got two rules-legal options:

1) Drop Neophyte Sorceror and keep Order, filling in an appropriate LP to make it legal

2) Drop Order and take Sorceror after Neophyte Sorceror, then add the affiliations/contacts for the Order back in with Resources.

Or, Hex could just wave his GM wand and make it all okay. This is my character for the Burning Keiber PbP game, btw, since I forgot to mention that before.

Okay...I REALLY wanted to run this at 4LPs for my comfort level...
but I DO like what you're cooking here...

So Here's my deal - You can do 5 LPs - in return you turn your BITs up to Eleven!
I like what you got, now I wanna see you come out the gate on FIRE!!
Kick it up a notch!

Deal?

I think a can do it in four, Hex, so no worries. Here is Eli v2.0 for you guys to gnaw on:

Concept: A noble's bastard son trying to make his own mark

Character Name: Eli

Lifepaths: Born Noble->Bastard->Lead to City Dweller->Neophyte Sorceror->Sorceror

Age: 27

Stats: Pe:B4 Wi:B5
Ag:B4 Sp:B4 Po:B4 Fo:B4

Attributes: Re:B4 Ste: He:B5 MW:B10 Hesitation:5 Resources:B0

PTGS: Su: Li: Mi: Se: Tr: Mo:

Skills: Family Secret-wise B3, Read B2, Write B2, Research B2, Sorcery B5, Sword B4, Dagger B3, Staff B3, Persuasion B2, Intimidation B2, Etiquette B2, Inconspicuous B2, Conspicuous B2

Gear: Sword, Riotbreaker (staff/club), Dagger, Clothes, Traveling Gear, Shoes

Spells: Arcane Kindness, Persuasion, Thunderclap

Contacts: Noble father, Humphrey Guelph (minor, family, forbidden)
Master Samuk, Peacemaker Officer (minor)
The Order of Keiber (1D Affiliation)

Traits: Mark of Privilege, Bastard, Extremely Respectful, Gifted, Tidy Aspect

BITs as above. Although really, I'm quite flexible in this area. I want to maintain my themes of possible betrayal by his family, his loyalty to the Order, and an almost subconcious fear of his Power. Any suggestions Hex? (or anyone else)
