While looking over the Weapons Appendix section in the Main Rule-Book, I found that there is no entry for a sling. Looking at what weapons are there, I thought I'd go ahead and make a suggestion for what it should be.

Sling, Rock from
DoF: I: 1-3 M: 4-5 S: 6
Weapon Power: +1 VA -

Range- Optimal: +1D Extreme: +1D Max Range: 50 paces

Staffsling, Rock from
DoF: I: 1-3 M: 4-5 S: 6
Weapon Power: +1 VA -

Range- Optimal: +1D Extreme: +1D Max Range: 75 paces

Also, this might be a bit radical, but I think that it should be a training skill that without doubles the Obstacle for the normal thrown skill. It's just an idea of mine, and I guess I could see it as just a regular type of skill. I just thought that anyone good at slings could probably do just as well without one, except for the reduced weapon power and maybe range.

So, what does everyone else think?

Definately cool, I may just use this in my game.

Thanks for the link, Yagathai. I don't know how I missed that.

hi tony,

i think that +1 VA is too much, and Sling should prolly just have it's own skill. Said skill could apply to all levels of sling -- from the little'uns to the big'uns.

I've tried to use a sling. It's more challenging than using a bow or crossbow! After a day of trying, I could get the stone in the direction I wanted, but nowhere near the target.

I remember playing with one back when I was a kid, and you're right, Luke about just getting the thing to go in the direction you want. I've heard tales though out of the middle east and southern Asia about boys that are deadly accurate with these things, plus there's the story of David and Goliath. The only thing I was trying to do was to make them a little tougher than throwing a rock, but I like your previous write-up.

Thanks for all of the input! :D
