So inevidably several martial arts will use, share or even concieve several manuevers. Spinning Kick of Death in one system could be found in another system, with or without the same name.
Do you see Burning Wheel matching this chaotic way of handling manuevers - different names but similar moves? Naming, as abzu's great Drunken Praying Mantis style demonstrates, is an integral part of the style and often reflects the master's philosophies and helps as a study aid for learning forms in a consitent system.
However, in developing the written form I question how to handle these common manuevers especially when trying to list and index them. I suppose my suggestion would be to name them what you will but in the description refer to the indexed name you want as a default. this may not seem like a big deal with the few manuevers that exist thus far but I like the manuever system and plan on making a much bigger part of my development, in both martial arts and other skills.
suggestions?
