Ok, I love books and I keep the books that I have in good condition. My wife is a librarian and my father was a book collecter. My gaming friends aren't so gentle. I've seen many a book maimed in their possession.

I'm reticent to let them handle the Character Burner, considering that each book is numbered (making me feel that it is a collector's item).

Would it be at all possible to post the lifepaths, and just the life paths, on the site? This would alleviate some of the wear and tear on the Character Burner without the whole character creation process away.

I'm sure I come off as neurotic (and I am).

Heck, at just $15 do what I did

a) buy a later copy and shelve your earliest one
b) have all my friends buy the book (I didn't even give 'em a choice... "here is your book, you owe me $15")

I have only had one person not pay yet

besides, the Lifepath pages are very photocopiable and can be done without breaking the binding.

The Lifepaths make up a bulk of the reusable materials in the CB. If you PDF them then there is no reason to ever really have your own character burner as a player (unless your a sorcerer). Tell your players "Its ONLY $15!" :)

Hi Nial,

I'm glad you like your CB so much to want to protect it from greasy fingers, but number or not it's a game book and meant to be used. i've got the demo sets that, in the past year, have been handled by hundreds of gamer fingers and have held up very well. So you shouldn't worry too much, take the wear on them as a sign of success!

As for posting the LPs... I would love to, but I just can't at this point. It's an economics thing. I suppose i could post them as a pay PDF, but that is outside the spirit of what I set out to do -- publish books.

And eruditus does make some good points...

Thanks for letting me know that the spine won't crack. I managed to photocopy the lifepaths. I keep recommending games to my group and suggesting they buy them. I'll have to keep Eruditius' suggestion in mind for the holidays.

Now I'm not a religious man, but I did see a pretty cool bumper sticker recently. It said:

A bible that is falling apart belongs to a person who is not.

It's got to have transplatable meanings somewhere...

BTW lets keep the T-shirt idea to ourselves. I am SO using that. Maybe team shirts for PhilCon!
