Why are spears two handed weapons (I realize some are)? Isn't there one handed spears that can be used with shields (Shaka Zulu, the Greeks, the Romans, etc..)? When using a weapon that can be used as a melee or ranged weapon (spears/knives) does one purchase it as a melee or a ranged weapon?

Why are Lances & Spears the same skill? Aren't they two different weapons in use?

From what I understood, most spears were rather long affairs in the middle ages. worthy of gripping with two hands. you want a one-handed spear, just whip one up: Power 2, Add 2, VA -, Long.

Spear meant for fighting, weren't meant for throwing. (Yeah, yeah, aside from the pilum.) We call spears meant for throwing javelins. Knives meant for fighting usually are pretty poor throwing weapons. However there are dual purpose knives. Use the missile stats and prices.

Spears and lances aren't the same weapon. There are two separate skills.

Before the invention of the stirrup, the spear and lance skill could probably be considered one.

Though the stirrup-less lance charge was exceptionally difficult, so maybe it could be considered a training or a trait?
