I call it The Torturer's Apprentice:

Intent: A spell that lower's a target's Will

Abstraction: Single Target (Ob1, 4s), Sustained (Ob2, 4s), Presence (Ob1, 4s), Taxing (Ob1, 2s), Anima (Ob5, 10s) = Ob10, 28s

First Distillation: Sustained (Ob2, 4s) + Anima (Ob5, 10s) / 2 = Ob3*, 7s
Test vs Ob 7
Time = 7 months

Second Distillation: Single Target (Ob1, 4s) + Taxing (Ob1, 2s) = Ob1, 3s
Test vs Ob 2
Time = 2 months

Final Distillation: Presence (Ob1, 4s) + 1st Dis. (Ob3, 7s) + 2nd Dis. (Ob1, 3s) / 2 = Ob3, 7s
Test vs Ob 5
Time = 5 months

Final Spell:
Effect: Target loses 1 die of Will per success over Ob
Casting: Ob3 + Target's Will, 7syllables
Duration: Sustained
Area of Effect: Single Target
Range: Caster's Presence
Resource Cost: 16**

* Page 23 of the Abstraction Chapter states you may round down when distilling the Anima facet.

** (Ob3 x 2) + (Ob5 x 2) = 16.

I question the resource cost of this spell.

To purchase a spell per the BW, it's two times the Ob. In this case, since the Ob is a Stat, that means the Ob is 5. So that would be 10pts.

But now, since in Abstractions there is a Base Ob which you add to the Target's Stat, does that mean you also add it to the cost equation?

If so, that would make any Stat-targeting spell more expensive than any other kind of spell (besides snuff-the-sun).

Is this the intent?

I realize its how it came out byt sheesh, Ob 3. Ob3 to lower it by 2, I might see. But I would put this at Ob 5 otherwise. Just my opinion. That spell is SO UGLY useful!
