How does a Born Chattel Orc take the lifepath The Rites? The note for The Rites says that one who is Born Chattel can only take it as their third lifepath, but you can't get from the Chattel setting to the Great and Black setting by your third lifepath. Unless I'm missing something..
I'm fairly certain that this is an error (I think I remember it coming up once before, but can't find the thread now). Anyway, I don't expect abzu to check in until Friday, so you may have to wait a little for an official answer from him.
However, as a quick and dirty fix if you have someone that wants to take The Rites right now, I would suggest that Born Chattel can take The Rites whenever they can reach the Great and Black setting, but may only take the path once.

What is The Rites, anyhow? The other Lifepaths I can puzzle out by looking at the skills and traits, but the Rites still has me scratching my head about the role it would play in orc "society."

Hey, neat. One of my players theorized that was it.
