Here is another question that I never though of until the Jack vrs Giant fight - do shrugged off wounds count towards incapacitation?
That is, the giant has taken 3 superficials for -1 Die of penalties. He shrugs it off. To take out a giant, you need 3 dice of wound penalty. Does the shrugged off die count, or do you need to do still do three more dice of penalty?
Jack's chances plummet if they don't count . . .

shrugging it off only reduces penalties, it does not add to stats or whatnot. So it still only takes three dice of damage to put Sr Giant down.

But the penalty being shrugged off is -1D, which would put him back at full health in terms of being incapacitated, no?
You've done this to me yourself, Abzu. The demon was knocked down a bunch of dice, you shrugged them off, and then when Kirin followed up, the demon was essentially back at full health.

page 199. there's a special provision under the Grit Your Teeth rule that allows a player to try to get an incapacitated character back on his feet.

Whew. Good, otherwise the fight would never end.
