I'm just curious, does anyone here read stuff (or post) over at http://www.rpg.net?

I have started. I plan on asking for advise on a new BW adventure I have been devising in the next week. Many of the posters are chuckleheads, imho.

let's keep it friendly. rpg.net is a gaggle of gamers, just like we are, just like nerdnyc.com is. varying opinions and general nonsense come wholesale with the lot.

the reason I ask, though, is because rpg.net gives great exposure for this game (or any other).

if any of you are feeling like you want to booster BW, rpg.net is the place to do it.

however, please do NOT start threads like "I love this game! It is the best game EVAR" it really only starts flame wars and ultimately isn't that constructive.

Will do :)

Although I suppose you are right to a small degree, the sheer numbers that RPG.net support (as compared to us and nerdnyc) certainly brings out the chuckleheads. In fact, I would be surprised if a significant number (and I do use significant in the scientic sense) of the really annoying posters are probably people who either are annoying just to be annoying or have only forums to socialize in since they have no friends. That being said, I can't say that this phenomena is focused just on rpg.net :) It has a lot to do with our subculture and a plethora of folk with too much brains and not enough points in social skills :)

I'm from RPG.net, of course. :) I used to be a moderator on the forums and I think I'm now 4th in total post count.

Honestly, I don't. I read posts there occasionally and may post once in a great while, but I find that the place proceeds its reputation.

Which is quite undeserved. The moderators allow people to disagree freely, which is seen as horribly lax and chaotic compared to some RPG forums.

Since this thread got resurrected: I'm an rpg.net forums semi-regular. Not as much as I used to be, but there you have it. I have nothing bad to say about the moderation or anything like that - it's a useful place. But there's too few posts per page, and WAY too few threads per page.

I don't think its even that. It just seems like a very unfriendly place.

Actually, I've found rpg.net more jaded than anything else. The frequent posters there simply get tired of seeing the same inane questions and posts over and over again. Every once in a while someone gets snappy. Completely understandable given the number of posters and the nature of the place.

However, I have found that if one remains courteous and always gives other posters the benefit of the doubt, it's quite a friendly place. A home for gamers just like me and you.

As such, I've met a number of friendly faces on rpg.net.
