Half Heights
Common Traits:
Water off a Duck’s Back, Bird Bane, Half-Height and Padded Feet traits.

The Water trait represents how little the half-heights are affected by the trials and tribulations of the world. It can be used as a call-on for Steel tests, also any friendly Elves may use the presence of a halfling companion as a call-on for any Lament tests. Padded Feet can be used as a call-on for Stealthy. Bird Bane describes the halfings great agility when throwing stones at crows. This trait may be used as a call-on for throwing-based Agility tests and Throwing skill tests.

The Half-Height trait limits Halfings to a exponent 5 Power and Forte, and a maximum exponent 7 Speed. All halfling characters have Throwing and Stealthy available to them regardless of their class skill pool. These skills must be opened.

They could possibly be considered to have an Affinity for throwing small objects, gossip, gardening (particularly with regards to root vegetables), family lineages, hiding, and moving without a sound. Artful Dodger may be appropriate as well as Bottomless Stomach, Eldritch Sink, Fortitude or Iron Will, Keen Hearing - Woodland Ear, Keen Sight - Eye of the Hunter, Keen Taste, Keen Touch, Nimble, and Practical. Those are just some of the traits that I think all or most Hobbits would have to some degree.

Cool!
No FRPG is complete with out a halfling race... I know how very D&D of me :P
The only other game that had a cool "Small" race was RQ which had Ducks as a PC race. Unfortunatly RQ is now HQ and even though I love Robin Laws, the rules for it bite balls, in fact they bite Hobbit Balls.

::Sigh::

A quastion...
What are the lifepathes for Hobbits?
I think that the Men's Peasant and Villager settings would fit, but with less traits and more years... after all - they can get up to 200 years old!
so... what do yo say?

Agreed, Peasant and Villager sounds fine to me. Perhaps half trait points? (Don't forget their nifty common traits.)

And no age cap at 100, just use the 100 yrs old pools for anything over a century old.

I think it should be one less point of trait, and not half (except Acolyte and Priest, who needs those points for buying Faithfull).

And about the ages - I agree. Just remember Hobbits are count as adoults only from age 33!

Another thing that Hobbits should have:
All Hobbits may take Sleight of Hand as it was his lifepath's skill.

Think they should have anything else?

oh, I think it's against BW philosophy to say that all Hobbits should have a certain skill. After all, I think there were lots of Hobbits that weren't tricksey and thievin. Instead I recommend making a new Hobbit Lifepath available in both the Peasant and Village Settings:

Trouble-maker
Time: 10 years (hobbit time, 3 years Human time)
Traits: 1
Resources: 5
Leads: Peasant, Village, Outcast
Stat: +1 P
Skills: Stealthy, Sleight of Hand, Falsehood
Traits: Trouble-maker

I didn't mean you must take this skill, but may take it, if you wish, even if it doesn't one of your lifepathes's skills...

Anyway, I think your new lifepath is better then my last idea. Very good! :)

:) I am glad you like it!

All this talk of Short PCs makes me want to get back to the Gnome Settings I've been brewing for some time. But, even before that, I have to finish off my super-secret Lifepath Setting! :P
