Fight! Blocking on the inside

If the range is on the inside, and they have a knife and you have a sword, do you eat the +3 Ob if you try to block? Or do the obstacles for using large weapons on the inside only apply to striking?

The obstacle penalties are applied to any use of the weapon on the inside.

Okay, that's the way we played it, but then later I read BW 167-168 which specifically says "striking with..." under all the obstacles.

So in that case, it looks like it would be better to block with the hilt, or block unarmed (+1 Ob in either case)

It's a hinky kink, actually. Since any powergamer worth his salt is going to bid for the +1 Ob rather than the +3...

But it doesn't matter so much so long as the larger weapons carries a penalty.
