I have been wanting to run a sci-fi game in Burning Wheel, but lacking resources, have put it on the back-burner. I've often wondered how to handle modern employment and education under the lifepath system, and on my way home to day I came up with this:

COLLEGE SUBSETTING

Associates of Applied Science Time: 2 years

The Associate of Applied Science degree is designed for employment purposes, and it should not be assumed that the degree or the courses in the degree can be transferred to a baccalaureate program. While some institutions do accept some courses in A.A.S. programs, the general rule is that courses in A.A.S. degrees are not accepted in transfer toward bachelor's degrees.

NEW TRAITS
Collegeboy Type: C-O 1 Point
Among the educated classes, being learned is respected, but among the uneducated, it can be a stigma. This trait is used as a call-on trait. It can be used by the character to add +2D against someone of lower education, if the audience is educated themselves. If the audience is primarily uneducated and resentful, then it can be used to add a +2 Ob to the player's role if his opponent uses the words 'collegeboy' is an exchange.

Frat Boy: ? (Give me some ideas on this

I would like comments, new trait ideas, and some further refinement of the fields of study, and ideas for sci-fi majors.

I thought about academic lifepaths like this for my Star Wars conversion.

I was going to use something like:

Junior College
Bachelor's Degree
Master's Degree
Doctorate

Each one would increase Mental Points, time, and skill pts, but the resources would dip and dip!

Then you could make certain levels required for certain jobs.

But then I realized this was wayyyy to crunchy and just stuck with one lifepath that had a skill category called "Appropriate Major."

I always have to do things the hard way.

Do you have the write-up for that lifepath? Also, any pointing towards more modern or sci-fi lifepaths would be deeply appreciated. I've noticed there was a lot of talk about them on the boards, but I cannot find any finished product, besides the Star Wars ones did by stormsweeper that I found searching for your your write-up.

But thanks for the help.
