Yet another character developed for the HârnWorld setting. :) Being a long-time Hârniac it's the setting I know best and the one I'd probably game in if I started a new campaign right now. So, let me present ... *drumroll* ...

Erevor of Nesin
Erevor began his life in the fair city of Shiran in the northern parts of the Thardic Republic. Being the oldest son of a rather successful mercantyler he managed to enjoy a comfortable upbringing. Erevor's father had everything arranged for him and at the fair age of twelve he began his apprenticeship under the bonded master weaponsmith Gumar. The years that followed were harder than Erevor had expected and he didn't get along very well with his master. He enjoyed working so closely with the legion though and smithing itself was a lucrative business. Erevor's habits finally caught up with him though, as he drew near an appointment to journeyman of the guild. Being a nightowl and gambler, he had drawn upon him serious debts and it became harder and harder for him to keep up the pace with all the work his master gave him. No longer did he have easy tasks to perform -- his was the job of doing most of the preparatory work for the journeymen. If, or rather when, he screwed up, the journeymen got behind schedule meaning that the master lost face to the legion. Not surprisingly, Erevor was kicked out. With a good beating attached.

Misusing his father's name didn't do Erevor much good. The Nesins of Shiran suffered a bit from Erevor's wrongdoings and since his father's business relied much on the family's good reputation, Erevor was handed a small purse and sent out of the district. Erevor ventured to Kuseme, or rather Kuseme-Coranan, as the two cities are separated only by the mighty Thard. In Kuseme lived, and still lives, Vanis -- former journeyman under Gumar and now working under freemaster Fergon in Kuseme. Without a job, Erevor found himself forced to make a living from others's resources -- by stealing. Since Coranan is such a bustling metropolis, Erevor found it at least possible to live off of the purses of drunkards and frightened travellers. He became a bully, a brute. After a couple of years Erevor had managed to make himself a small kingdom of his own in fair Coranan. The locals knew him and there was a silent agreement that if they left him alone, he would only assault strangers, not residents. The darker neighborhoods aren't especially nice to begin with and since the city cohorts seemed to care little about the residents there, Erevor took up the job to "keep the streets safe". This meant hasseling and beating folk from other parts of town not "belonging" in the neighborhood.

Power shifts rapidly in the underworld and so too in Coranan. While Erevor enjoyed a couple of years as prince of rogues, it couldn't last forever. The powerchange was lenient enough though and Erevor got away with a broken hand and a stab to the side. Not bad; he was alive after all. Fortuneatly for Erevor, there was still a way of making a living. He was soon caught up in the "street preachings" of one Temyr Khonary, member of the senatorial Khonary clan, liutenant in the Red Shadows of Herpa (an Agrikan (a god) fighting order, think of them as brutal and egoistic templars). Temyr recruited Erevor as a "convert" from the faint Haleanism he practiced before. Erevor's new role as apprentice (his own words, Temyr refers to him as a "tool" when speaking to colleagues) has mainly come to consist of him running errands, collecting "taxes" from various craftsmen, and performing simple smithing tasks for sir Temyr. Temyr, being a zealous Agrikan, is of course fascinated with fire and pursues smithing as a way of getting closer to his god. The last years have been... well not bad at least and while Temyr can be cruel, he always rewards Erevor well for work well-done.
