I was feeling a little inpired, so here is a first attempt at a Knight Errant

Errant I'm thinking would be a +1D to circles in the areas the Knight was performing his deeds, but it seems a little weak. Any ideas would be appreciated.

My comments:
Looks good, but why does he get a +1M? The +1P is all good, but it seems like a physical learning path, he is not reading or studying at all durng this time.
My thoughts about Errantry:
+1D Reputation regarding one of the knight's exploits during his errantry.

I would consider making foraging or survival the first skill. Every knight is going to take a weapon skill, but part of the definining difference in a wandering knight is that he is self-sufficient. Force that on 'em.

The +1M is supposed to be there for the same reason that Hunters and Trappers get +1M - they are living on the quickness of their wits as on the strength of their arm. Deadly riddles, fiendish traps, outwitting evil wizards - all part of the job.
Making survival or foraging the first skill is probably a good idea - it is a little more defining.
Like your version of errantry better. Might change the name to Deeds of [name] or something, though.

Second the move to Foraging as required. When I want to make a killer of men, my first step is to get that Squire LP. It's got weapons enough for an army and +M,P as well.
Can I also suggest that you add a Crossroads-wise? That is perhaps the most important errantry wise, given the relative abundance of roads and other knights to joust along them compared to the scarcity and danger of encounters with dragons and trolls.

Changed the first skill to Survival - it seems even more necessary for gallivanting about the countryside than foraging is. Foraging is the second skill.
Added Crossroads-wise - that's a great one. Also added Riddle-wise, since I mentioned answering deadly riddles.

Becareful of skill glut, the "officalish word" in the MonBu is that you should keep Skills and Skill Points about equivilent. With 9 skills being alot. You have somehtign like 15 now?
I would go with +1 M/+1 P. Let them choose whether they get a little smarter or a little stronger. Life as a knight-errant is hard. I'd drop the Resources to 10. Not a lot of money in questing. You'd be much better off staying with Knight and riding the tourney circuit.
Drop Appropriate Weapons and Conspicuous. Both are available in the Knight lifepath. That helps create a little differentiation between characters that go up through Knight before moving on to Knight-Errant and characters that go straight from Squire (and it's not as if Page/Squire without Knight means a dearth of weapon skills).
I'd also drop Heraldry. Going up against the unknown is too much fun. Let them buy heraldry with general points or bring along a herald who knows the stuff. I'm waffling about Foraging, but I suppose we should keep it.
That leaves you with 10 skills: Survival and 9 Wises. That's pretty cool. I'd say give him 10 skill points.
Finally, the Errantry trait. My suggestion? It grants a 1D Infamous Reputation to higher nobles (men with the Your Lordship, Your Eminence, or Your Grace traits) as a troublemaker (or something more colorful), but a 1D Reputation with the women as a dashing hero (or something more colorful).
Reputation: Errant Deeds. (as Thor described it)

5 years gives you 10 skill points, 2 trait points, mental/physical bonus with 15 resource points on top of it. You people are crazy. 7-8 years or lowering skill points to 7, and I would say OK, otherwise I consider it cheating in my book.

Yeah, that does kind of sound like a fantastic return on the investment.

It isn't so out there. I mean, Knight has more Resources, more Skill Points (and more useful skills), equal trait points, equal time. Religous Knight gives 5 skill and equal stat gain in 3 years!
So, overall, I changed Errantry to Errant Deeds - love the idea, thanks, Thor and Abzu. Kept the +1M,+1P - equal to the Religous Knight. Took away Conspicuous, Appropriate Weapons, and Heraldry. Said to only pick 5 of the Wises so I could keep it at 8 skill points - I wanted it to be sort of equivalent to a Knight, with better stats and more useful traits, but less useful skills, and less skill points and Resources. Or would it be better to have a couple of ORs (like Dragon-wise OR Troll-wise)?
I reduced the resources to 12 (5 for working stiff, +6 contacts, +1 meet a lot of people beyond that).

Changed Errant Deeds slightly - included a good reputation for those with the Romantic traits or other equivalent traits that would make them impressed by daring deeds, and made the +1D Infamous reputation for those with the Noblesse Oblige, because a Baron's son is likely to love a heroic knight, but his father, who has tended his lands for the last 10 years, is likely to take a dimmer view.
Anyway, this thread has inspired a couple of more possible Knightly LPs- Questing Knight and Tourney Jockey (or something like that).
