Awating the fabled rules for enchanting I figured I post my first magical sword here, hoping I'll get some feedback.

What I have done is take a look at the different unique traits, spellsongs and spells and created a magic sword from them. Here is how it turned out:

Maeglin (sharp gleam)

Maeglin was forged by the elven king Hirluin in gratitude to the dwarves of Thorgrims line, who built the keep called Tirnin Pendrath to watch their friends solitude.
The blade passed from dwarf lord to dwarf lord until it came to Niall IV who where to be the last of Thorgrims line. In countless pitched battles of the Hundred years Siege the blade often saved the grim dwarf as he held the line against the trollkin and dragonspawn of Nilfang, spoiler of Wilderheart.
When Fëanor returned to avenge his father, King Hirluin's death the blade was again passed into elvish hands. The young elven prince killed Nilfang by thrusting the fine blade into the heart of the dragon. Distraught by his lovers death in this battle Fëanor vasnished from history, and was only seen a few times wandering Wilderheart alone consumed by greif before the forest kingdom was abandoned.

Game speak:

King Hirluin forged the blade in gratitude, wishing his dwarven friends well. The blade was light in hand and its edge was true.
[Singing Blade: all die rolls are open ended]
[Crushing Edge: -1 to VA]

In the hands of Thane Niall IV during the Hundred years Siege the blade picked up some of the lords valor and stubborness. Soo it would let him fight with undaunted fervor despite horrendus wounds.
[Strength of Doom: ignore 1d of wounds penalties for minutes equal to health once/day]

After Fëanor plunged Maeglin into the twisted and black heart of Nilfangthe white hot flame brning there futher tempered the blade making it baneful towards Nilfangs kin. But the blade was also drank deeply of the dragons poisonous blood, which taints all that it touches. So who ever wields the blade from this day on suffers from dragon sickness after having drawn steel.
[grey damage against dragons]
[when drawn in combat must pass an ob 3 health test. Success leaves the wielder feverish and listless + 1 ob to steel/hesitation tests. Failure sickness and weakness overcomes the wielder + 2 ob test penalty for one day pr. missed success.]

Rumors and legends:

Man:

Has no legends conserning the blade.

Dwarves:

The Blade is cursed. The legend tells that Niall IV survivor of a hundred years of war, was borne down and killed by trolls not longer after he had given the blade to Fêanor. No dwarf will carry the blade for fear of becoming dependent on it like Niall IV must have done.

Elves:

Maeglin is as sad blade with a valiant but tragic story. It should be left alone lest its tragedy should inflict the bearer.

A bit longish I know, but what do you think?

For such an obviously powerful weapon, I would not be surprised if it added a couple of bonus dice to the sword skill of the bearer.

The backstory is cool (if but a little disjointed) and definitely could be part of an awesome campaign. I imagine Nilfang's kin returns and only this sword could kill it. It would make for a nice tragic quest!

Cool!

sweet.

Not too powerful, but just enough to make serious difference. The Strength of Doom power is rockin.

Hi kublai,

The backstory may seem a little disjointed, but thats because it is tied up to the history of the forest Wilderheart and its tragic fall. Which is too long winded to post here (actually I havn't typed it up).

I have tried to avoid adding bonus dice to avoid the "oh another +2 sword" type deal. Beside my players have 5 LP characters, so they are pretty well tooled, skills are not their biggest problem (currently this is the vengeful icetroll Kaldbane).

Nilfang is one of the race of dragons, unleashed by the mad druid Broona as a part of his silent war on the elves towards the end of the second age. The dragons were the Shadow's (read evil) greatest triumph and his greatest failure. Great engines of destruction and malice, but too willfull to be controlled.

So yeah, Nilfangs kin will feature in the campaign. Which is why I asked for a write up of a dragon since I am uncertian of what its powers should be. See my post in Monster Burner thread.
