Clearly, the Lifepaths of Man PDF wasn't intended for electronic redistribution. What's the acceptable number of printed copies I can make for a character-burning session, from the one electronic version I've bought? None? One? As many as I have players, so long as they don't go home with them?

You're allowed to print it as you need it. Printing copies for all of your players is perfectly acceptable.
