Hi, I'm new to the Burning Wheel scene, but I'm pretty excited about the game. I'm hoping to run an online campaign using the BW ruleset, and was wondering if there were any resources out there to aid in the running of an IRC-based BW game. I'd really like some input on how to run the scripted combat without giving me (the GM) an unfair knowing-ahead advantage.

The only idea i've come up with is that people submit their orders via AIM, and I just don't look at their windows until we start exchanging volleys. That seems extra-clunky.

Why not just "the honor system"?

why not just have everyone wait to submit, then count down, "Ready? 1, 2, 3, submit!" Then you really have the feel of everyone jumping in on the brawl. And you could even set a time limit -- "you have 1 minute to submit, go!"

If I were running a txt based version of this (which I think it is perfectly suited to), I would just make sure folks were specific about targets/intent. Aside from that, scripting should be a snap in a txt based evironment. (of course, i've never done it. )

BTW abzu... we talked about a JAVA client script and such... any word on looking into that programmer we spoe about?

I would be VERY intested in doing an online game. I think, that for a game like the Wheel that is growing in patches across the country, a slick online presence and the ability to play is crucial.
