I remember my first time very clearly. Pablo was young, virile, and his soft, dark ha...

Sorry, wrong first time post.

I used the Mount Burner to create some horses for my PCs the other night, and I was quite entertained. I think that they enjoyed them too. The burning process really helped flesh out the horses' personalities, and as one of the characters purchased Low Speak: Horses, I had occasion to NPC them a bit. It was fun.

Two of my players purchased War Horses, so they just recieved standard generic Coursers. However, another player (the one whose PC uses a Zweihander) purchased a riding horse, and there I got a little more creative.

I did a Born Sumpter --> Abused --> Riding Animal for him, as it suits his character. His mount (named Klopp) is therefore very Sturdy, necessarily Obedient, but also Unpredictable, Angry & Ornery. He's a Brute, as well. In other words, he obeys his master -- but he doesn't like it. Anyone else better lookout! I threw in some flavourful instincts and a fun belief, and the personality just sort of crystallized in my mind.

I am pleased!

Cool! It is fun, isn't it?

I created a pack horse and used the random trait generating rules. I ended up with an animal that adds a +3 Obstacle to ride! Thank God he was just the pack horse!

rockin. I'm glad it worked out for you. I'm pretty pleased with it, if a little embarassed. I really don't think the world needed the horse burner.

playtest-wise: after burning up a few horses myself, I feel like they generally have one too few mental points and one too many physical points. That's my observation to start, but I'm interested to hear other opinions.

Also, Mike, how long did it take to burn up the horses?

I too thought the mentals might be a bit low, but the physicals right on.

Klopp took me maybe ten, fifteen minutes.
