Alec's father was a popular whitesmith and his jewelry was sought after far and wide by the noble classes. It was Father's intention that Alec should be trained as his apprentice but even at an early age Alec never had the patience or delicacy of touch that a whitesmith needed. Still hoping to keep his son in the business, Alec became a shop clerk and there his skills shown. Many a noble just couldn't resist this young boy's sales pitch, never suspecting such a spiel was anything more than the ernestness of youth. All seemed set for a wealthy merchant's life for young Alec until the Goblin Wars began. The edict came down: one young man from each family to enter the army.

Alec was terrified and pulled every heartstring of his noble clients with his plight. One young knight, Sir Tristam by name, took pity on the lad and brought him into his forces as quartermaster. Alec couldn't believe his luck at first. A nice safe post away from the front lines and he could wheel and deal more than ever, making friends left and right with the little comforts he could divert their way.

Then the raid happened. Sir Tristam took the bait of an goblin attack that swiftly fell and he led the bulk of his forces to give chase. Then the second goblin wave descended upon the camp and Alec found himself fighting desperately for his life. Only the fact that he snared himself the best suit of armor to come through his hands let him survive that raid and the one that followed. He learned to use an axe and knife the hard way in those days.

The situation got worse before it got better and soon they couldn't spare men for sitting in camp. Alec was headed to the front. Pulling the last strings he had, Alec got himself into the archers and took the best bow in the stores with him. At least, he had a chance of getting the buggers before they got him. Finally the orcs were pushed back for the moment and Alec released from service. All he wants is return to his formally quiet life of a merchant but he knows that isn't going to be for some time yet. The front is the last place he wants to be, but he's got the skills and there is no chance of a normal life until the threat of the goblins is gone.

Quite a lot of resources on this guy too. Will mainly be spent on the best weapons and armor since quartermaster is where he got most of the points. Probably a bunch of military and noble contacts too.

How does this guy look?

I'm crying.

Why? Because you aren't making these characters for my game.

Very nice. Again, a reasonably simple concept well done using the lifepaths, netting a diverse skill set a lot of potential, a cool background, and a great launching point.

Watch out for those Instincts that are close to beliefs ("it can save your life..."). Otherwise, cool cool cool.

Again, a great starting character! It's my opinion that his Persuasion should be one higher since it sounds like he was an above average smooth-talker. I would take a point off from Brawling and transfer it to Persuasion. You'll still have pletny of combat FoRKs to be a fine warrior.

Hmmm. Not a bad suggestion. I had seen him more as a bargainer than a smoothie when I was originally making Alec, but with the background as written, you're right. It would make sense.
