View Full Version : New Lifepath: Wild Man
Submitted for the consideration of the BW community:
The Wild Man is one who completely and deliberately eschews conventional society. Clad in hides, he lives in the wilderness, surviving by his wits and skills with only the most meager of equipment. Walls, celings, and roads are all things of the past to the Wild Man. His life is harsh, but those who walk this path become skilled at survival in the wilderness.
Type: Outcast
Time: 4 yrs
Stat: +1 Phys, Men
Trait: 2
Resources: 3
Leads: Peasant, Soldier, Servitude
Skills: 7 pts: Survival training, Foraging, Tracking, Firebuilding, Brawling, Trapper, Cooking

Are you sure the wild man should get mental point? Maybe reduce one... Or do you have good reason for that?

It's the same reason that Hunters get a Mental point. The Wild Man is forced to live by his wits alone. And with the exception of Brawling, all of his skills have mental roots.
well done. A good 'path!
it's a very beneficial path (all them stat and trait points, plus dem skills). But balanced by a nice 7 year committment.
Do you think this path should I have any requirements? I do. I feel that if you're coming from the Peasant setting into this, you should be forced to experience society in some way before you eschew it.

Hmm... that's certainly a good point. I would say any non-Peasant Lifepath would be sufficient.

It's a 4 year commitment, not a 7 year one.

He's good, but he needs a bit more to make him more different than the Hunter or Trapper, because right now, he just seems to be a combo of the two. I think you can do this with mandatory Lifepath Traits. Perhaps Survivalist, Wild Stare, or Anti-social?

I absolutely love "Wild Stare."
It's a 4 year commitment, not a 7 year one.
Oops. Damn these eyes!
Ok, I revise my comments: The LP is too short and it should have fixed requirements: Hunter, Trapper, Woodcutter or Shepherd.

How about "Scout"? I can see a Professional Soldier/Scout wandering into this lifepath as well. Or "Ranger" from the Outcast setting? Ranger -> Wild Man feels like it could also be appropriate. I'd suggest adding those two, but yes: Wild Man is either too short OR has too many skill points (keep the same skill list and LP length, but reduce the skill points to, oh, 4 or 5, and it's probably good).
