View Full Version : Leads - Questions
Are the leads listed after each possible lifepath the only possible ways to go from each spot?
In the Dwarven lifepath, Born Noble. The leads are Guilder and Artificer. Are those the only two choices that a person has when they are Born Noble?
I'm not sure how flexible the system is and if the system is more flexible and Leads are only suggestions, what are the purpose of leads?
Let's say that leads are a rule in the game. They are meant to govern where one can go from a given lifepath. They create a feel of a structured society in a mass of chaotic lifepaths (at least I hope they do).
In the Dwarven culture presented in the CB, the leads are meant to respresent the very rigid and stratified nature of Dwarven society. In order to go anywhere, characters must bow to certain traditions. Hence the strict requirements in many of their LPs.
In general, if a lifepath doesn't have a lead you're after, try taking another path to get what you're looking for.
To answer your last query, Leads are as flexible/inflexible as any rule in any game.

Thanks Luke, for the fast response. I appreciate it.
Could someone give me an example of how to take a Dwarven character from Born Noble to Dwarven Prince according to the rules?
Thanks.

I've got it figured out. I had a thick-headed moment, there...well, a thick few hours.
All sorted out.
Thanks.

Ah, now I see your confusion. Once Born Noble, a character can take any lifepath under the Noble Setting or take a lead to the Guilder or Artificer setting.
So to become a Dwarven Prince you simply go Born Noble, Ardent, Axe-bearer, Prince.
Hope that clears it up.
