Could someone please point me to where in the BWR rules (or Abstractions handout) outlines the formula for calculating a spell's RP cost?
Just based on looking at spells, I think I've figured out that the basic formula is:
RP = 2x Ob. for a spell with a fixed obstacle that is *NOT* an 'up' spell
RP = 4x Ob. for a spell with a fixed obstacle that *IS* an 'up' spell.
RP = 10 for a spell where the obstacle is a stat, or is variable depending on the desired effect (e.g. Mage Light)
But I'd like to be able to review the actual rule on this. Can someone please let me know where to find it?

You've mostly got it.
Ob x 2 for "capped" spells.
Ob x 4 for "up" spells.
And if there is a stat there, it counts as Ob 5 when figuring RP cost from the final spell Ob. Add any extra Ob and then multiply by 2 for capped, by 4 for "up."
edit: oh, HERE it is:

Thanks for confirming/clarifying and for providing the link. I'm glad to know that I wasn't just failing my Research roll in not being able to find it in the rules themselves.

It was in Classic but inexplicably disappeared from Revised. It will have to get added to the Abstractions chapter before the MagBu gets published.

So, uh... when's that gonna happen, Thor?

I would guess sometime between now and the heat death of the universe, but don't hold me to that.

A-ha!!! There it is. Thanks!
Thor's right, though. Something about that should also be added to the "Abstractions/Distillations" section when it is next revised.
