My concept was a simple one. Create a 4 LP sorcerer with contacts, gear, and enough spells to make him competent. He's a test of Resources, I suppose, but I'd play him in a heartbeat! :D

Aeger the Mage

Born in a city which was known as the center of sorcerous studies, Aeger's Gift was recognized early. He was taken from his parents just before reaching adolescence. For the next 18 years, he studied, researched, and read all he could about his Gift and the powers that came with it. He became a member of the Sorcerous Order and used its resources to further his studies into the realm arcana. He had barely left the college in all that time.

Finally, one day, he realized that studying and practicing made up half of his knowledge. To truly understand magic, he must leave the academic world and enter the unknown outside. And so, packing his bag, he bid farewell to his lifelong mentor, gave his student some final instructions, and took his first steps down his new path.

Oh my god.

Can you break out the RPs for us? Just for our edification?

Also, why Per B6 and not Will B6?

First, I took a B6 Per instead of a B6 Will because of the long-term benefits of having a higher Perception. Most of a sorcerer's skills are based off of Perception. Learning new spells and facets is based on Perception Aptitude. Having a Will of 4 may seem low, but I make up for it with the B6 Sorcery and the Sustainer. As a sorcerer, I can also count on taking lots of Will tests, so this exponent will likely climb relatively fast. I know as a veteran player that earning Will tests is much easier than Perception tests, as well. Finally, having a high Perception boosted my Reflexes by making up for my low Speed.

Second, let's break down the resources.

Lifepath resources:
Born City - 10
Sorcerer's Apprentice - 10
Sorcerer - 25
Sorcerer - 25
Total = 70

First thing I bought was Clothes, Shoes, and Travelling Gear for 3 points.

Total Spent = 3

Then I bought my Affiliation with an Arcane Order for 20 pts. This gives me a bonus of 10 Contact Points and 4 Gear/Spell Points.

Total Spent = 23

Next I bought Contacts, using the 10 free points from my affiliation.

Important = 5
Minor x 2 = 4
Insignificant = 1

Total Spent = 23

I feel a wizard is not a wizard without a magic staff. Otherwise, he's just an apprentice! So I bought him an official Sustainer Staff for 10 pts minus 4 free affiliation pts for a total of 6.

Total Spent = 29

Finally it was time to spend the rest of my points on spells! This is always the hardest choice. :(

The Sense is a must for 8 pts.
Will o' Wisp is a poor man's light spell for 6 pts.
Eldritch Shield at 8pts won out over Turn Aside the Blade and Chameleon.
Fire Bolt was taken directly from the Abstraction Distillatin example for 8pts.
Wallwalker was my "fun" spell for 6 pts and won out over Wizard's Key.

Resources spent on spells = 36 pts

Total Spent = 65 pts

I received 3 facets for free as stated in the Abstraction Chapter: Personal Origin, Instantaneous Duration, and Caster Area of Effect. Looking at the spells I had, I knew I could have a lot of fun experimenting with them if I had a couple simple facets. So I chose Single target for 2 pts and Presence Area of Effect for 3 pts and a total of 5 pts. For example, adding Single Target to my Fire Bolt spell allows me to fire multiple bolts at once! :twisted: Or if my party keeps within my Presence, we could all benefit from the Wallwalking spell! :twisted: See? Muahahaha!

Total Spent = 70 pts

Wow, I have so much to learn. :shock: :)

Awesome character. I need to study up on affiliations and contacts more. Spells too.
