I'm not sure if I should have put this up in the Burning Empires section instead, or what, but I've been thinking about some campaign settings.

I have Burning Wheel (Picked it up about a year ago, still haven't gotten a chance to actually play!), and will be picking up Buring Empires on Friday.

1. Star Wars. I've seen some people post up the lifepaths, but I'd like to do a complete overhaul of it to do starships, aliens, and the like. Does burning Empires have rules for burning starships?

2. Firefly. I think this would be perfect for "Burning". Mostly character development laced with some firefights.

3. Battlestar Galactica. The re-envisioned series. Again with the character development. Players are either characters aboard Galactica, or on another one of the many ships in the fleet.

4. Warhammer 40k. How would this work? I saw that Empires has mass combat rules. It'd be cool to make a full fledged space marine.

Thoughts? Could these be pulled off in Empires?

1. Nope, no starship creation mechanics.

2. Firefly. Nope. BE nor BW can do the traveling pirates thing.

3. Yup! BE can do BSG easily. The ship becomes the world. The Vaylen become the Cylons.

4. Can do 40K easily. Chaos or 'Nids become the opfor.

Excellent. The game will be purchased of Friday! As soon as I look over it, I'll post up any rule ideas for any of the ideas I had.

What is the difference between Firefly and BSG that precludes a "the ship is the world" scenario in the former?

The setup. BE is about a conflict between Human and aliens who want to be human, which meshes nicely with BSG. Firefly doesn't really have that.

I think Burning Wheel could be adapted (pretty heavily) to serve Firefly, but it would probably be easier to use a more cinematic system. Dogs in the Vineyard, With Great Power..., or Primetime Adventures could all work.

I'm planning on picking it up soon!

Hey, I wonder if you could do DS9: Dominion War with BE? Instead of hulling people, just replace them with shapeshifters!
