I was in the army in the 1980's. I was in the infantry. We used to play war games, get all pumped up and tense doing combat simulations, which we were taught to treat as real. When we did the BW melee demo, I felt the same kind of tension and adrenalin rush I got when doing those wargames. You get caught up in the moment, focus on what you have to do, and if you survive, well, you get this worn out feeling, and just want to lay down, relax, and maybe have a beer.

That's what Burning Wheel combat felt like to me.

Very cool. BW combat is, of course, awesome. So different from the combat in other systems that I have played. Although I love D&D, scripting is a lot more fun than just rolling and hoping I hit. You really have to think about how you make your attack in BW, and tactics involves more than just footwork or spell selection (as in other games).

What can I say? It's the truth. I felt the same way with Riddle of Steel mind you, but BW was just a bit more intense overall.
