This fight should be a lot more even.
Bohemond.

I'm ignoring my instinct and starting with a pistol cocked and drawn.

Bringing a pistol to the Arena is just so wrong!

Noted. And I'm using my shield to protect my legs, so you can't target those with your pistol.
Outside striking distance.

I don't mind, at least not in this fight. Just as long as Tim doesn't forget to roll that gunpowder die. ;)

You're starting at outside? Didn't see that one coming.

Are pistols illegal, or something? Seems like I remember Jack Calgary or somesuch using them.

Hang on. I've actually never used a ranged weapon in Fight! (believe it or not). You can shoot from the outside, right? Does it increase the ob?

Nope, they're perfectly legal. Pete is just kvetching.

Your pistol is essentially a Longest weapon in Fight! My axe is Long, so you can put yourself at Optimal, and me at Outside.

Ah, crap. My entire exchange is....nothing, then.

Eh? If you want to start at Outside for your pistol, then we're doing R&C.
Change your exchange if you like.

No, I wanted to start with you outside. I just wasn't sure how to phrase it.

Yeah, that's what I figured. You Optimal, me Outside.
cool. Thanks for not holding my feet to the fire. ;)
E2, V1, A2: Now I die! ;)

Hey! What happened to the colour, you robots?!
It's Yag! I missed, I figured he'd want to color that! ;)

I've been throwing up all morning and well into the afternoon. I've had plenty of color in my life, thank you.
Anyway, usually the winner narrates, and I've won precious little.

That sucks, sorry you're sick!
This combat is a comedy of errors.

Let that be a lesson to you, kids. Never script a Charge right before a Set, Great Strike, because if you fail, you lose two actions instead of one.

NOW you blow your positioning? I hate you so much right now.
ETA: I'm assuming you closed to Optimal?
Can you guys slow down a bit?!
Can you post complete whited out volleys in one post, then reveal them one at a time in subsequent posts that include Exchange/Volley/Position/Action markers, successes/results and color descriptions?
I actually think it's the lack of description that makes it hardest to follow!
EDIT: Didn't see the chatter up thread. Sorry for the boarding!
Yeah, we're at optimal, now.
hmmm. Feint vs. Block/Strike. Does my Strike go off, at all, or am I just well and screwed?

No, you get your strike. Just not your block.

What is "a sucking chest wound," Alex?
That's correct, for $500!
That was a jacked up chaotic fight. I'm pissed about my Disarm!

Dude, you needed 7 successes on 8 dice. I don't know what you were thinking. And why didn't you already have your knife out at the beginning of the match. That puzzled me too.
Yeah. I could have had my sword out, for that matter. I was all excited about getting to shoot the pisol, I guess. Thanks for all the schooling. ;)

Exchange 2, V2
Maintain 6, 4, 5, 2, 3, 5 (4s) bwahaaahahah!
a1 Draw Dagger
a2 Set
What was this Set action? You know daggers can't Great Strike, yes?
It was a fake-out script. I had my sword in my hand, and could have great-struck with that. It might even be an effective fake-out if it was done in the last action of volley 3.

Many a time have I used the Set action as a fake-out. It might have worked, too, had I not been hesitating. =)

Neat!

The placement wasn't ideal, though. Since the fakeout came before the last volley in the exchange, and I only had the 1 action scripted, there was no way for me to abort that action to an Avoid or a shield-block (which is what you're trying to when you pull that particular fake). Now, if you set at the end of Volley 1, or even as you said, at the end of volley 3... now you're cookin' with gas.
