For this scenario, Hip Deep in the Dragon's Lair (http://forum.rpg.net/showthread.php?p=7004491&posted=1#post7004491)

Concept: Henchman

Character Name: Up to the player

Lifepaths: Born Peasant -> Conscript -> Foot Soldier -> Servant

Age: 19

Stats: Pe:4 Wi:3 Ag:4 Sp:5 Po:4 Fo:4

Attributes: Re:4 Ste:6 He:3 MW:10 Hesitation:6 Resources:0

PTGS: Su:3 Li:5 Mi:7 Se:8 Tr:9 Mo:10

Skills: Battle-wise 3, Rumor-wise 3, Dungeon-wise 2, Trouble-wise 2, Spear 3, Armor Training, Brawling 3, Firebuilding 1

Gear: Two Pairs of Shoes (I had one extra RP point and having an extra pair of shoes just seemed to make sense), Travel Gear, Run of the Mill Spear, Run of the Mill Chainmail, Clothes

Association: None

Contacts: None

Traits: Flee from Battle, Mind Numbing Work, Fearless (-3 Hesitation for Shock, Gore, Death, Fear), Thick Skinned

Beliefs:
You have one Belief that says why you attempted this madness in the first place.
Why are you in the Dragon's Lair?

You have another Belief about the Dragon itself.
What do you feel about this immortal, wondrous, vicious, cunning and greedy beast whose home you've invaded?

You have another Belief about your comrades.
What do you feel about these other bastards who have broken into the Dragon's mountain for one reason or another.

Instincts:
One Instinct about what you will do upon first seeing the Dragon, another about what you will do if a comrade betrays you and another that is about traditional D&D tropes (i.e. never split of the party, always have fifty feet of rope, always check a door for traps, etc.).

Notes: Fearless and Runs From Battle as Traits? What does that mean? It means you will get artha either way and to my mind, it means that this guy is one smart puppy. He is not a coward but he'll run when the fight looks downright stupid. The definition of downright stupid is entirely up to the player but with his Hesitation from fear being so low, it will likely be the player's choice.

You have low skills that are primed to go up through play, keep an eye on that. You are no slouch in combat. I have seen, through cautious scripting, a character with a 3 skill and chainmail hold off a more skilled opponent quite well. Use your wises, not only in FoRK's but in other awesome ways. They're handy skills.

I'd have fun playing this character as servile and obsequious up to a point. You are the classic dungeon delving Henchman with a face, with flesh and blood.

Enjoy

He can't use a spear and a shield at the same time and he has armor with no Armor Training skill which brings major penalties. I'd flip some points around. Otherwise cool concept.

Thanks for the catches!

How about some more wises for this wily survivor? Adventurer-wise, Trouble-wise, Dungeon-wise or Stuff-wise all seem reasonable. Our henchmen were forever being bullied into going first down the (possibly trapped) hallway or having their throats cut just before divvying up the loot. How about an instinct like "Never go first" or "Never turn my back on the party"?

I love that the character has an extra pair of shoes. He is quite a bit more wealthy than his parlous mates!

If in the land of the bare feet, one pair is king, then the character is an emperor!

The extra pair of shoes really tickled me too.

Not sure why.

This character is awesome, way more cool than if the character had been a nodwick clone.

Fire-building seems too low at 1, should it not be 2? (I'm guessing it's not rooted in will)

Firebuilding is Rooted in Perception, so it should be a B2, yup.
