I've been toying with the idea of introducing Poisins into our Burning Wheel play. I've got some ideas, but i was wondering if anyone else had done anything with poisons... I'm basicly looking for ideas and such...

Let me make sure i'm not missing anything, this is what i found in the Great Spiders Stuff:

Virulent Venom (6-Forte Ob Penalty + B7 Wound)

Deadly Venom (6-Forte Ob Penalty + B9 Wound)

Intoxicating Venom (8-Forte Ob Penalty + B6 Wound)

Parlytic Venom (5-Forte Ob Penalty + B5 Wound + -2d Power)

Weak Venom (5-Forte Ob Penalty + B5 Wound)

Is that it? I like what i see, just making sure i didn't overlook a huge list somewhere...

you gots it.

All poison and venom has a purpose. Spider's venom isn't explicitly designed to kill (except in the case of Deadly Venom). They have other adaptations which don't require them to kill with venom alone.

So you have an Obstacle penalty to daze the victim, plus an additional wound do to the acid-enzymatic burn.

Other Poisons in our game simply attack Health. Lowering Health is a clear signal that the character is sick sick sick. No one wants to make a Recovery test with penalty dice.

So what are you thinking?

Well, we've been playing in Trithofar for years... There's a folder with somewhere around 10 or 15 pages of poisons and other drugs... I'd like to covert them over...

I'm thinking some Hesitation inducing, die penalties, and obstacle penalties will probably cover most of what we want to do...

btw, it's probably worth mentioning that the monster burner has small venoms section in it. There's the spider venom, of course, plus snake venom, manticore venom, and insect venom (like stinging ants).

soon!
