View Full Version : Some Lifepath Skill questions

Several lifepaths have the Administration skill (I've come across Alewife, Banker, and Minister).
Should this actually be Bureaucracy, or is it a seperate skill?

Spot the interesting difference:
Tailor (Village): Sewing, Weaving, Embroidery.
Tailor (City): Tailor, Sewing, Weaving, Embroidery.
Should both have Tailor, or is Tailor redundant considering the other three skills?

Conner: what exactly is this lifepath? I expected from the name for it to be some kind of con-man/charlatan-type, but the skills don't exactly fit.

That's all (for now...)

A Conner is an ale maker.

Hi, demiurgeastaroth, and welcome!

Here's a primer when asking questions - Luke only answers the last question asked of him!

Luckily this is a public forum, so maybe others will pick up on the questions he missed!

They are very similar and since there is no description of Administration, it'd be a perfectly fine interpretation to use it as Bureaucracy. Maybe administrators have a better understanding of the whole, rather than a tightly focused bureaucrat? Maybe administrators are much easier to deal with than a bureaucrat? It's a matter of roleplaying at that point, but I believe the mechanical use for it would be the same.

The one big difference is that the Bureaucracy skill is intended to be used as a means of getting information from the system, while Administration is used to run the system.

I have no idea on how the Tailor skill is different from the combined other three!

Yes, I see that now :)

That makes sense. Thanks!

Maybe the reason that the Administration Skill was never described is because The Creator felt that running a business was not an ingredient of fantasy role-playing?

"Holy crap! The orcs are invading again? That's great news! Boy! Take notes! I'll need a shipment of spears as soon as possible if I am going to get in on the market early! And let's rent out our workshop to refugees at steep rates! And prepare my carriage just in case the orcs make it through this time. I don't want to be anywhere near this place if that happens!"

That sounds fun, actually. I could get behind a game like that.

Actually, it IS fun! I am playing a bar-owner/import-exporter in Luke's latest campaign and my role in the party has become that of a fixer! I have at least three businesses that I manage and, damn, if I couldn't use that Administration skill!
