I was fishing around and I stumbled on this 220 page file on my computer. Let's take a look and see what's in it, shall we?

Oh, it's pretty! Check it out:

• It's got some kind of burner thing that lets the group create their campaign for the setting. Cool!

• It's got two short stories in it. Not the vignettes that are in the CB or Monbu, but full length stories. What's this? One of them was written by Robin D. Laws. Well I'll be!

• It's got 4 new lifepath settings, plus reappearances by some old favorites for a total of 8 settings. A whole new culture to explore!

• It's got over 100 new traits -- not including character traits. Oh and look, how cute. All of the traits are laid out in an easy to read format so you can instantly reference a trait to see if its native to this book, another book or if it's just a character trait.

• More than 30 new skills, plus extant skills that have been customised for the setting. And the skills are also laid out in an easy to reference format, so you can instantly tell if the skill is native to this book or referenced from another text.

• A completely setting customized resources list so you can outfit your characters in the proper attire for the party!

• 4 new Emotional Attributes. And golly they're cool.

• Plus a host of custom rules that tailor the Duel of Wits to the setting. I'm most excited about those!

• And a set of guidelines for how to use Fight! and Range and Cover in the setting. Oh, and a new Fight! action!

• Of course there's a whole fistful of new weapons and armor to play with, too.

• And then there's some stuff on monsters in the setting. There appears to be both rules and guidelines for dealing with them in setting appropriate ways and, lo and behold, a mini bestiary -- 10 monsters. By golly, I think it's completely illustrated, too!

• Then there's some boring appendices with setting-specific details for the fetishists out there.

Wow. That feels like a lot, and I didn't even get a chance to describe the illustrations yet! That'll have to wait until later. I've got to get this thing ready to send to the print. It's too cool to just sit here on my desktop!

Preorders Begin June 18th and run until July 18th

Any chance you'll share your public IP address, and any potential open ports on your computer with us Luke? ;)

Sounds frickin' awesome! You pretty much have my money already. :D

Any chance it will be in my hands by Dexcon 10?

Luke is just like Santa.

Well.. If Santa spent the days before Christmas posting on the north poles website taunting and tormenting the children with the prospect of presents.

And then giving them sugar.

Yah.

Just like bloody Santa ;)

I look forward to seeing this.

oooh cool news.

just one thing I really want the pre-order but when is it likley to ship? The thing is I'm going to be moving country (UK->Canada) on the 17th of July so apart from the hotel I'll be staying in for a bit I won't have an address! it seems abit excessive to get a friend in the uk to order it for me and then post it back across the pond when I have a permanent ish address!

Hey, we might save on shipping if we ordered a pair of them together. :-)

It's definately save be from shipping it back from the UK! :)

I'll be moving to Ottawa so I won't exactly be able to pop over and pick it up one evening :) but.. do you have paypal?

Then I've just got to find someone interested in playing once I have settled in a bit!

Hey Dan,

The preorder period ENDS on July 18, so I think you'll be safe in getting it sent to your new address. The physical books likely won't ship until some time in August.

I don't know the details for certain, but I imagine PDFs for those who preorder will be available for download as soon the preorder period ends, as was done with Burning Empires.

Why do you hate us, dan? Can't you order the book with the new shipping address?

Updating = additional step, additional step = pain.

Spontaneous generation of setting rules! This is great news for everyone involved. I want to see the new DoW bits!

If there's proportionally as much awesome in the book as there is in this topic, then this release is going to blow my mind.

It's hard for me to pick favorites, but I think the DoW mods are one of our best turns yet. Just slightly edging out the awesome new Fight! mods.

Luke,

How did you know my birthday was on June 18th? I'm glad you thought of me when you set the preorder date. This will be the best present ever.

So it IS the Adventure Burner you mentioned in the interview with Clyde!

Sorry, I didn't mean to give that impression! I was just concerned that I wouldn't have the full address when I need to order the book. I was just trying to imagine my wife's reaction if on the first morning we arrive I start ordering more books!

:)

I'm afraid that one's going to cost you, my friend.

With a perfect setup, I can't help but hit it out of the park.

Oh, well, I guess there's no such thing as a free lunch anyway. Unless you speak polish to Jake.

Can you say Apteka?

"krnabrne zdzblo"

Hey Chris, what Jake really wanted to say was Krnąbrne źdźbło, but his keyboard was laking few crucial characters.

Hey, now, don't make me go get help from the Poles on my other forum!

Okay, but seriously, all cheekiness aside, when Luke states "It's got some kind of burner thing that lets the group create their campaign for the setting" is this the "Adventure Burner" (aka Campaign Burner) that he mentioned in his interview with Clyde? Or is that another project?

Either way sounds good to me, I'm just wondering. I'll stop buggin you about it.

It sounds like what will be included in the Surprise is maybe closer to the World Burner in BE: A subset of Adventure Burning functionality optimized for this setting/thematic range/whatever.

I'm feeling like i'm in some kind of echo chamber. I thought that I said that clearly few posts above, but let's try it once one more time - Nie nie będzie to Adventure Burner. ;) Now get your Poles from the other forum and figure it out for yourselves. ;)

Nie nie będzie to Adventure Burner)

No. No. Stop with the Adventure Burner.

Close? I couldn't find a one for one translation for będzie. So I had to compare translations of sentences, some of which was poetry, and that's the best I could come up with. Damned curiosity.

Drozdal

No. No. Stop with the Adventure Burner.

Close? Close enough. ;)
I just realized that i forgot about a coma between those two nie's, anyway what i said above was "No, it won't be Adventure Burner".

It's clearly not real Polish, it's some funny dialect he picked up somewhere.
